You're are ways good for a laugh, can you remind us all how Rahic in your words "was not far off his mater plan", you go on about assets just what assets did Rahic leave Bradford City, his master plan got us relegated to a lower league than when him and Rupp bought the club, some plan.
Go ahead @Fordy117@Fordy117 the floor is your ?.

He was pointing to how Rahic wanted to buy young, cheap players then improve them and sell then on. Then reinvest the money buying better young players and sell them on at a higher price and so on.

We all know the plan wasn't executed correctly but in theory it could potentially work if executed correctly.

    You're being very hopeful, Fordy

If owners want to make money from football, the only way to do it is to do whatever it takes to get into the Premiership. And that will cost money and lots of it. But the rewards are enormous; these days, over £190mill just from Sky for a single season in the PL.

For a club which isn't already in the PL or isn't receiving parachute money from already having been there, other than being very, very lucky, the usual option is for an owner to subsidise the club, possibly for several years. The owners might 'invest' in better training facilities etc, but it's subsidising the losses resulting from playing budgets (typically around the £30mill mark now or if you like10 times the size of ours!) and far exceeding the income of the club which might bring success with a bit of luck. That's how Town did it, how Bournemouth did it, how Wolves did it and how Burnley did it. And equally how Forest, Derby, Boro, Brentford and Bristol C are still trying to do it.

How much owners have to subsidise their clubs in the Championship with just a hope of reaching the promised land is just eye watering.

I know what he was pointing out and it was a disaster for our club, taking monies from where it should have been spent on strengthening the first team squad.
The first sign of one of his development players scoring he gets a 3 year contract on the back of his goal against Blackpool, yes Rahic's master plan was not far off.

You've completely (and deliberately?) misinterpreted Fordys post. He didn't say Edins plan nearly worked, he said Edin wasn't far wide of the mark when he came up with the actual plan.

The money that GR and the Rhodes family invested time get us into the PL wasn’t really a gamble on the clubs future but more of their own personal wealth. Had we not gone up, they’d have lost money on big transfer fees without risking the club as a whole.
GR took the risks to another level when he rebuilt the stadium and committed to those silly salaries on long contracts.
I don’t want to see that ever happen again but I do want the current owner or any new owner to do what GR did and commit some of their own money.

You need to go back and read it. Especially the line immediately before the brackets.

As I said, you've either not understood or deliberately misinterpreted.

The silly salaries were the thing that killed him, everything else was pretty much bang on the money. The risk on ground developments was a necessity that we are able to take advantage of to this day. As for a new owner committing some of their own money Stefan Rupp already has in his purchase of the club. Not that it will be on spending level of Richmond but BFG realised quickly that, to back up his grandiose plans and the time scale he claimed, he needed to spend big. I don't ever envisage another owner ever doing that again in my lifetime.

@NorthernMonkey@NorthernMonkey is spot on with my thought process.

I'm not saying Edin got it right but he wasn't far off. He didn't explain or carry it out correctly.

That's because Rhodes runs like that but Mr Rupp is worth 150m isn't it. Rhodes and Lawn worth nowhere near that.

This tight ship mentality is getting us nowhere.

I'll go for not understood then seeing as you're still banging on about what Rahic achieved.

Honestly, please go back and read the original post, it's really not that difficult to see where you're going wrong.

Edin wasn't far off? Tell you what Fordy, i've read some stuff on here over the years but that takes the biscuit. The only thing he wasn't far off was ruin us for a generation. had he have still been here i've no doubt he would have succeeded in this.

I posted it further up. He stated his plan (before he got everything so terribly wrong) was to buy young talent, improve them and sell them on. Reinvest in better youth talent and sell then on at higher fees and so on.

The execution was terrible, there's no doubting that but the actual plan can be workable if everything is done correctly, including the investment.

Edin messed up no question but most of his mess with look at me I know football and I want to act like the *@?$ of the north. He upset and rocked the boat on and off the pitch.

His timing for his master plan was totally wrong. All we needed to do was keep most of the squad after the Millwall defeat.

However, investing in youth is the way forward, you only need to look at England team, Ajax, Liverpool etc to understand this. When I say invest in youth I don't mean it has to every player but for Bradford City to counting on Danny Devine is highlu embarrassing because he's dog sh@te. You need to get the blend right.

Off the pitch Bradford City are a disgrace in terms of commercial and I believe he was looking to sign players to help this which is correct and the right thing to do.

Look, truth is Bradford City could make a lot of money but they don't know how too then act poor. I could them money and I know others can but we like this we're cheap, we're poor line.
