Spot on Steve, even some FGR fans have criticised him on their forum and the Gloucestershire Live publication who we explained matters to yesterday.
Some like Stafford Bantam may think these things are outdated but I can assure you in the 10 years of being a Director and Ambassador and now Associate Director I have never been in another Boardroom where anything less than Jacket (preferably suite), shirt and tie have been accepted. Clearly FGR are an exception and one of their Directors has posted "Wait until we give Bradford our dress requirements". The only slight exception was at Chelsea where we were told in advance that we could not wear any Club colours in the room we were in. Fair enough we complied. In someone else's house you do comply.
In our Boardroom we have rules which are communicated to visitors but we also keep spare ties in case someone forgets. On Saturday two came from FGR without ties, one wore the one he was given, the CEO took his but on entering the Boardroom decided to leave, together with tie as far as I know, then decided to say he had been denied entry.
In respect of ladies in the room similar rules of smart dress apply and are complied with. There was one incident when the wife of a Rochdale Director appeared in smart Chinos and was reprimanded by Mark Lawn but it turned out she had undergone hip surgery and that was all she had to fit, she was allowed to stay but every game subsequent smart dress from her.
We all have different standards, even Tesco have introduced a dress code for their stores of no vest. It's all about standards, we try to apply good ones, everyone knows where they stand and welcome it, possibly why we have consistently won Boardroom of the Year so many times in the last 10 years.
Matter closed for me, looking forward to whatever fancy dress FGR come up with for Good Friday.

Im sure if our CEO turned up at their place with a bacon sandwich in his hand he would be turned away. Its all meaningless, tie no tie, bacon in bread or falfal on rye but the protocol of each club should be followed regardless.

Get used to it, it’s fourth division football. The players and coaches the three higher leagues don’t want.
Shite football and shiter antics, Rahics legacy will live on for a while yet. We just need to get out of this league asap!Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Henno, Faithful Bantam, Old Grey Fox and 7 others like this. -
It’s no different to the 6 seasons we spent in league 2 last time. Poor teams, shite tactics, awful officiating, all leading to extreme frustration for the fans. It’s gonna be a loooong season

Let’s get one thing straight. We have played 5 league games and have been second best in all the games. No midfield. No pace No width. Defence looks fairly solid but why keep changing formation week in week out. When at home be positive. Attack. !!!! this is League 2 and with the so called great recruitment we have made we should be winning at home in this division. Early doors but imo worrying and soon won’t be acceptable should it continue

Bowyer was obsessed with making sure we followed an absolute pattern, steadfastly refusing to allow them to try to play it out of the back.
All right, the goalkeeper's long kicks were useless and therefore the concept could be argued to have 'worked', but FGR did not look at all good enough to play through us in my opinion. We should have let them try to play it out, and capitalised on the inevitable mistakes. There was nobody in their back line that was good on the ball, and they had two or three quality players tops - both the Mills' were good, I'm not sure anyone else had anything to care about.
Yet we spent the whole game caring about what they were good at - and frankly, I found that friggin' pathetic.Chad, rmbenson007, Bantam87 and 6 others like this. -

It's up to bowyer now to figure out how to beat these teams. Because mark my words all away teams will come to VP and play like that.

How odd that their CEO refused to wear a tie, must be an odd ball. I’ve been to Black tie events, golf courses etc. With dress codes, I’d not want to wear that particular clothing normally but respect the rules of the place and either wear what I have to or don’t go simple. Some people are just attention seekers though, I imagine he knew the dress code in advance as most in the football league will.
I’m sure our board members who attend their ground in April will have the respect to not eat meat on the premises as is their right to tell us not to, when in Rome do as Romans do.Stop hovering to collapse... We were shocking today but let’s be fair. We were terrible against Cambridge Utd, limped to a point at Grimsby and got battered by Stevenage but managed 3 points from an own goal assisted by terrible finishing from them. Oldham we were second best but finished better than they did. The team has zero pace, penetration or width. The back four are sound but that’s the only positive. The refs are shit in league 2 also. Bowyer looks like a man with limited ideas. A long long season ahead

Short memory boys. Don't you remember Ronnie Moores Tranmere? Cheated all the way through the game and beat us. It was that bad I gave their chairman a mouthful on the way out. Lots of poor teams last time we were here.

FGR tactics were dull as dishwater but you won’t be the only side to employ such spoiling tactics this year. I wouldn’t want to watch that dirge every week. As for City. We were so poor. Never took the game by the scruff of the neck as you would expect as a home game. We got what we deserved and unless we remove some of the shots that remain here from last years abhorrent season then we ain’t going to make any waves this year. It’s aktight having a fantastic front two. But if you don’t play to their strengths and give them some quality to feed on then they are redundant.
Matt Mills is as composed a centre half on the ball as we will possibly see this season. The rest of their side were average. But we were worse. Must improve. And quickly. -
