“We can’t bring anyone else in until people leave”? Really? Where do you get this from? We have just added a significant sum to the accounts from the McBurnie sale. Even if Rupp opts to take out whatever he receives, FFP means he should have more money available, even if only loans.

To state we CAN’T is just guesswork and if we don’t invest, this squad will be fighting relegation come May

 

I'm yet to hear any names that people think we can realistically get. We're looking at free transfers or young lads on loan from the Champ. They won't be established first team midifleders who are going to consistently supply our strikers like we would like to hope they would. These type of players needed signing in pre season. Bowyer has made a mistake.

 

But a fact? We have received money from Swansea. If Bowyer says he desperately needs a couple more players, you don’t think Rhodes will try to persuade Rupp to part with enough to do so?

Why should we “get over the McBurnie money” when we know it’s there? Nobody is asking Rupp to spend the whole £2.4m+ but we do need to bring in 2-3 more players urgently

 

Agreed. I was very positive going into the new season and I thought we'd take a few games to get results but I never expected us to perform so poorly. I was at Cambridge and grimsby where we were appealing in the midfield and attack, not there tonight but the result says it all. Bowyer needs a win on Saturday otherwise discontent will grow.

Give me some names. Who do you think we can get. We've wasted one loan on Palmer who for me looks bang average. A player who no one will notice because he only makes 5 yard passes. Gibson doesn't deserve to be dropped based on his last two games so I really can't see Bowyer thinking he needs 3 new players in.
Everyone thought Longridge was a good signing on here 2 months ago. P. O'connor was being lauded over as the next big thing too. Neither played well tonight yet its Akpan and Doyle getting the grief. Doyle has been thrown under a bus from the minute he signed for us. Played up top on his own which isn't his game and then when a potential partner is bought in he's played in the no10 role.
Bowyer has made poor signings apart from Vaughan and Donaldson and hasn't singed players to fit his own system.

Agree far better than Gilllingham who won the league, the season after both kept similar teams and we adapted far better. Can’t under estimate how much of a distraction big cup games are to lower league players though, for some it’s the biggest game of their career. In fact who in that team has played in a bigger game than the league cup final since?

The doyle it's not his fault so cant fault him comments are wearing thin now.

He has to do more....been over a season now take out his penalty goals and he really hasnt done anything or looks likely to.

 

Out of the 3 I'd say maybe at a push i can accept Anderson as a squad filler as he does put himself about a bit but it's the fact that we have all three in there, tonight proved that is one feeble midfield!

Quite clearly AOC didnt step up with the line but still fancied trying to blame others.

That’s not far off what I would play ,maybe Akpan (yes I know) if fit for Devine and Henley at RB

Would be good to see Longridge at LB and, if fit, some game time for POC, Akpan and McCartan. I wonder if we continue with the 433/narrow 442 (not sure which is more accurate) then maybe McCartan is better suited to the deep lying forward than Doyle. Suppose games like this give him the chance to stake his claim.
