You’re right Gibson has done ok, still not good enough, couldn’t get in a Stevenage side last year

If you think PO had a poor game tonight then I can’t begin to imagine what you thought of the rest

Finished seventh largely due to the cup run, IMO.

So Gibson isn't good enough even though he's done ok but P. O'connor is excellent and should be the first name on staurdays team sheet? Based on what? Tonight. The logic of some of our fans is laughable. Literally pick on a couple of players and blame the overall team performance on them. It's the same people begging Rupp for more money on social media. Embarrassing.

Donaldson managed a whole 2 goals last season by the way. Based on his last two performances I can see why. It's fine though because he wins headers.

Maybe so, but however it panned out, job done and a great day out at Wembley in play off final. Our current squad is a long way off matching that I am afraid

Agree far better than Gilllingham who won the league, the season after both kept similar teams and we adapted far better. Can’t under estimate how much of a distraction big cup games are to lower league players though, for some it’s the biggest game of their career. In fact who in that team has played in a bigger game than the league cup final since?

The worry is that his blueprint was based on bonding, steely mentality, commitment and physical presence. Initially what he preached as the paramount requirement to get us out of this league. Well, we are way short up to press. I expected to be seeing the green shoots of a recovery, but sadly, management clarity is just not there. He has had the full pre-season to build a platform, but yet again their are too many holes in our formations. We ought to be seeing a team that looks ready and prepared, displaying technique along side ability and belief in whatever system we adopt. I am concerned about his assessment of players who seem to be a liability and whilst we all recognise he has inherited a few poor signings, his managerial skills are employed to create improvement.

Can someone explain this to me, because I have no idea what Jon is meaning. Bowyer offered contracts to 3 out of contract Bradford City players. Of course they are his signings.

Wasn’t at the game tonight, but YP said that only three of our players warrant consideration for a starting place on Saturday. Scannell, wood and Devine all played well apparently?

Wood and Devine played ok. Can't say Scanell did anything really. Quick feet and pacey but zero end product. The defence was pretty awful. We're in trouble in that department when injuries and suspensions kick in. Longbridge and French don't look anywhere near up to it. The goalkeeper faced 4 shots that all went in.
Upfront Doyle was played on his own again. Not his fault and not his game so I cant fault him. We have a very bog average team and fear that we are massively relying on James Vaughan to be honest.

How can you state my logic is laughable when you slate Palmer !. Listen I give Gibson credit for his performances so far but I don’t believe he’ll be good enough over time

As for PO, he stood out a mile tonight, only defender I’ve seen so far this season able to play a ball into midfield, won all his headers and is just better than anything else we’ve got at the back

Put Vaughan, Scannell and Donaldson in that team and its a very good league 1 team never mind league 2.

Tonight was abysmal nobody can hide from it. We didn't look competitive apart from a 5 minute spell at the start of the second half. The players, with the odd exception, have to shoulder the responsibility for me utter crap!

Genuinely never want to see Doyle in a city shirt again he literally does nothing well. Anderson isn't far behind him either.

My view on tonight if anyone cares? (Thank god i got free tickets)

Preston for me are a blueprint for where we want to be in the next 5 years and i would take their manager in a heartbeat. They play a similar formation to what Bowyer wants from us but they have the right personnel to play it.
Even tonight their midfield 3 was powerful and strong and they all wanted the ball. They then have a target man who the two pacy wide men/wide forwards play off of and it just works. They were a very well drilled unit and all knew their job.

As for City. Why are the ones who are not getting in every week, not busting a gut to perform tonight to get a place every week? Our midfield 3 is flat and has no pace. One doesnt know when to sit and let the others together, they are all just lumped in the middle, leaving Doyle totally isolated all game against Clarke who was immense (to be honest it was a training match for him).

Anderson is slow and rubbish on the ball, cannot keep his place for Saturday. Devine is not good enough and doesn't look close in my opinion. Akpan was typical and same as last season. We are woeful in there and that will kill us this season if we dont sign more or get Reeves fit and how he was before. We do not have the quality or the engine in there to go 4-4-2 in my opinion, wed get murdered and over run in every game.

Tyler French is not a right back and had a mare of a first half. Looked terrified of getting ball in the end.

A O'Connor was half decent but gave ball away for 3rd? Was a really poor pass and not sure what he was doing, Would put PO'C in over him who had a fairly decent game.

Longridge looks good at left back. Tough night against Barkhuizen who is a very good player but thought he looked good on the ball

Scannell, did ok when he got the ball. Alot of time he was in space and wasnt found by our dire midfield 3.

Wood isnt a left winger and never will be.

Disappointing night and we didnt even give it a go, felt as though once we'd seen team sheet from them we gave up. Bowyer not doing himself any favours, I like the 4-5-1 but we have to work on it and stick with it. Push our wingers higher up to join the lone striker and badly get some mobility and strength in that midfield

No. Do you watch the game or just sit in the toilet cubicle for 90 mins?

Was economical in possession and used the ball well.

Not commenting on how he played at Grimsby or tonight as went to neither.

Disagree. Certainly wasn’t the worst player, but “looked very good” is stretching it just a tad
