My view on tonight if anyone cares? (Thank god i got free tickets)
Preston for me are a blueprint for where we want to be in the next 5 years and i would take their manager in a heartbeat. They play a similar formation to what Bowyer wants from us but they have the right personnel to play it.
Even tonight their midfield 3 was powerful and strong and they all wanted the ball. They then have a target man who the two pacy wide men/wide forwards play off of and it just works. They were a very well drilled unit and all knew their job.
As for City. Why are the ones who are not getting in every week, not busting a gut to perform tonight to get a place every week? Our midfield 3 is flat and has no pace. One doesnt know when to sit and let the others together, they are all just lumped in the middle, leaving Doyle totally isolated all game against Clarke who was immense (to be honest it was a training match for him).
Anderson is slow and rubbish on the ball, cannot keep his place for Saturday. Devine is not good enough and doesn't look close in my opinion. Akpan was typical and same as last season. We are woeful in there and that will kill us this season if we dont sign more or get Reeves fit and how he was before. We do not have the quality or the engine in there to go 4-4-2 in my opinion, wed get murdered and over run in every game.
Tyler French is not a right back and had a mare of a first half. Looked terrified of getting ball in the end.
A O'Connor was half decent but gave ball away for 3rd? Was a really poor pass and not sure what he was doing, Would put PO'C in over him who had a fairly decent game.
Longridge looks good at left back. Tough night against Barkhuizen who is a very good player but thought he looked good on the ball
Scannell, did ok when he got the ball. Alot of time he was in space and wasnt found by our dire midfield 3.
Wood isnt a left winger and never will be.
Disappointing night and we didnt even give it a go, felt as though once we'd seen team sheet from them we gave up. Bowyer not doing himself any favours, I like the 4-5-1 but we have to work on it and stick with it. Push our wingers higher up to join the lone striker and badly get some mobility and strength in that midfield

I never thought re-signing all of them made sense and so far this season they have continued to be uninspiring - all I would say is if GB thought they were part of the future he would have offered them more than a 'cheap 1 year deal'. I think he thought Palmer, Akpan and 1 yet to come in would give him his midfield with the others as back up in the short term (and hopefully 1 of them might really push on). But I am not going to argue a case that they are good enough.
We know where he has spent the bulk of his budget, but having his 'big guns' up front is hopeless without a supply of quality ammunition from midfield and out wide - I am certain GB knows this but key is what he can do about it over the next couple of weeksbantamdave41, BoingBoing, BSABantam74 and 1 other person like this. -

Seriously , is bowyer trying to get sacked?

Am I wrong to contemplate that Bowyer might not be all that? He got knack all out of those last year in the 13 games or whatever he had and has done bugger all from what I have seen in pre season or thus far to suggest the next 9 months might be any different

A complete overreaction. The scoreline is exactly what you'd expect from a Championship team playing a league 2 side.
The only thing i'm concerned about is that dire midfield but we didn't need today's game to know that it isn't up to standard.ConnecticutBantam, Allotment Bantam and BradfordBanter like this. -

I'm beginning to think Bowyer is a masochist. He saw a club that was on its arse due to an evil owner. He saw a club that had very discontented fans due to said owner. He saw a club with a team full of square pegs and round holes. He saw a club and thought, "right - I'm gonna enjoy this".
He must be aroused all match with all the "mistakes" he's making.

It does make you wonder if it was a ploy to get money out of Rupp for reinforcements.....
