Video of NKP incident - stomped and punched

Both are in football terms violent conduct. Agree NKP has to get a yellow if Flangan gets a red but you can’t react like Flanagan did. Scannell did and was rightly sent off.

Playing devils advocate here. In Flanagan's incident, Bradford were counter attacking, Flanagan was our main CB and needed to break free to get back and defend.

In Scannells, the play was stopped and it was frustration that caused him to push Honeyman.

Both sending offs. Both will be forgotten about again in a few weeks. Both teams will get decisions have decisions go the opposite way for them and it's purely down to referee inconsistency. It happens in every league.

Definitely a red and seems pretty similar to what we can see of the NKP/Flanagan incident.

Agree with @Lost Mackem though, there’s inconsistency - although (to give a brief defence of the officials) lots of things in football are inherently subjective in terms of interpreting, for example, violent conduct.

 

Like I say, play was stopped and Honeyman wasn't interfering with Scannell at all. It was really stupid, especially so late on in the game, right infront of the ref.

Seeing the video, you can probably see what I'm trying to get across with my points, at least with Flanagan's his idiocy can be explained as the Bradford player was being daft too holding onto him when he needs to track back.

I hope we get some of these decisions going our way soon because we ain’t had the rub of the green this season. You’re right, its part of football.

 

There is a difference in the situations but both should have resulted in red. There is no defence for voilent conduct, its a straight red. Saying that, if it was the other way round i’d have been shouting for NKP to give him a slap. Hate seeing players grabbing shirts and limbs, especially at corners.

 

Fair comment @Lost Mackem, you're certainly correct with this comment, it was plain to see by everyone who attended the game on Boxing Day, 3 big calls all bottled by the officials, talk about Santa Clause bearing gifts he certainly delivered you Christmas presents late .

Why did he give him a yellow card then? He either saw it and dealt with it or completely missed it and therefore can't book him.

The yellow card also means there won't be retrospective action.

 

Agreed. Like I say, if it was just a yellow he'd have to book the Bradford player too.

The ref obviously didn't see it and is only taking the linesman's word for it so it's a tricky one.

I'm not sure many in the ground saw it, we were at that end and I was following our break away until I saw O'Donnell gesturing to the officials what was going on.

 

Know it might not be clear from that vid, but struggling to see where NKP is holding him back. Flanagan gets up and is free. If he was really that bothered about getting back into position he wouldn't turn around and shove NKP in the face. Really not excusable and is a red. All I want is some consistency.
The amount of disallowed goals we've had is a joke. Even last week the ref was lucky we scored the pen. Imagine if Doyle had missed because the ref couldn't wait half a second to see Payne score a perfectly good goal.

 

I think he caught the shove at the end. To be honest in these situations a yellow seems to mean I know something happened bt I'm not sure what so I'll play it safe with a yellow.

 

Shove in the head /face vs shove in the upper chest /shoulders.

 

Both red cards. I'm not sure why there's any debate?
