The lino wouldn’t have been running to the half way line - his job is to stay with the last defender.
However, if he didn’t see anything, it shouldn’t have been a booking either!

 

Linesman definately saw it as they gave a yellow card, which also means their can be no retrospective punishment against the player. Another disgusting decision from the officials.

 

looks like scannell got sent off for shoving a player to ground against Sunderland this season.

 

Playing devils advocate here. In Flanagan's incident, Bradford were counter attacking, Flanagan was our main CB and needed to break free to get back and defend.

In Scannells, the play was stopped and it was frustration that caused him to push Honeyman.

Both sending offs. Both will be forgotten about again in a few weeks. Both teams will get decisions have decisions go the opposite way for them and it's purely down to referee inconsistency. It happens in every league.

 

Both are in football terms violent conduct. Agree NKP has to get a yellow if Flangan gets a red but you can’t react like Flanagan did. Scannell did and was rightly sent off.

 

Know it might not be clear from that vid, but struggling to see where NKP is holding him back. Flanagan gets up and is free. If he was really that bothered about getting back into position he wouldn't turn around and shove NKP in the face. Really not excusable and is a red. All I want is some consistency.
The amount of disallowed goals we've had is a joke. Even last week the ref was lucky we scored the pen. Imagine if Doyle had missed because the ref couldn't wait half a second to see Payne score a perfectly good goal.

 

The linesman sees it all. The referee has been badly let down by his assistants today. They Completely bottled it.

 

Put yourself in the official shoes. The ball has just been played upfield, the lino is running to the half way line and the ref legitimately has his back to it 60 yards away. Why the hell would they spot it? The constant bashing of officials is ridiculous. It does need retrospective treatment though.

 

If it how you say both players were liable the correct decision would have been a sending off for your player and a yellow for ours. As you say, why only book one player when both were involved? I think it was another bottling decision, or they didn’t see the whole incident, in which case they have to let it go.

 

You’re wrong.

Whilst it is true the ref has his back to the incident, the lino is looking straight at it and does nothing. It isn’t until the ref is alerted to it that the linesman runs on to the pitch.

Both this incident and the ‘goal’ were not the fault of the referee but his linesmen have badly let him down.

 

But he didn’t run back to the half-way line. A couple of stills shows exactly what was happening. In fact, in the 2nd still, the ref even sees some of what is going on, as he looks over his shoulder and sees NKP being pushed back to the ground.

 

TBF, Honeyman may not have been holding onto Scannell (like in Tuesday’s incident), but he was holding on to the ball having fallen on to it. No excuse for Scannell pushing him, but to say one is defensible and the other not, is wrong.

But how many times have you seen an opposition player pushed in chest and go down holding there face to make it look worse than it was but the original offence is a shove to the body.

 

NKP should have let go of the Sunderland player. Hangng on to his leg like that was stupid.

 

Thats a good call Steve, forogt about that. We had no complaints about Scannell getting sent off and this incident looks just as bad. It looked a red at the time. Hard to apportion blame for this and the ‘goal’ to the ref as he won’t have seen either. Linesmen on the other hand....

 

I hope we get some of these decisions going our way soon because we ain’t had the rub of the green this season. You’re right, its part of football.

 

Fair comment @Lost Mackem, you're certainly correct with this comment, it was plain to see by everyone who attended the game on Boxing Day, 3 big calls all bottled by the officials, talk about Santa Clause bearing gifts he certainly delivered you Christmas presents late .

 

Wonder if there is a fan of any club in the country that believes their team gets the rub of results from officials?
