Even if he was on £4,000 a week, it would be twice the average in League 2. Still an extra £100,000+ over two seasons. That is a sum worth moving for. The figure for both leagues was ‘average’, so not ‘exact’, but a general indicator. If you work on the figure of 22 players per team X 26, then there would be 572 Senior players in League Two. One player being paid a ridiculous amount, will distort the average, but by a very small percentage.

Crowds dont win games or get you promotion. He has a chance to play at a higher standard next tetm and if he choses that over us then fair enough. -
The problem lies with that business model it will eventually fail. Smith won’t sell cookery books for ever……Roger? -

If Adams was still here I think it’d be a no brainer for Vernam and he’d be off, but Hughes being here now makes it a trickier decision.
Hughes is a bigger manager than most League One/Two players will get chance to work with in their short careers and we saw that time with Hughes with his arm around him on the pitch after the game they seem to get on well. Vernam came good for him in those latter matches.
I agree with the other posters saying, generally speaking, money is king, but if Sparks was right in his latest video and we are offering competitive deals to players, at least we can give them food for thought.
You’d be frustrated if you walked away from a promotion winning season here under Hughes, in front of 15k+ crowds, for a bang average season in and out of the team mid table in League One, but It comes down to what motivates you I guess - success or purely the money. -

In short according to those figures, Vernam is our sixth highest paid player on £124,800 per annum. If you directly compare with the salary of the sixth highest player in the Lincoln team, Adam Jackson who is on £182,000 per annum then simple arithmetic suggests a difference of £57,200. Double that if he gets a two year contract.
