Up until Hopkins signing ..... Our first 11 couldn't crowd half a Volley ball court, with their movement ! :(

I’m totally lost with all this. I’ve suggested some strikers who have a decent record recently and been told something about 1977

I think the way we have been set up recently under parky we were never gonna score tonnes of goals. Wyke had a half decent record however.

Personally think it's just down to the fact we've signed a lot of crap strikers over the years or one season wonders. Whenever we've signed a good striker who was scoring many goals before coming to us they generally go on to do well.. What we have done in the past (and now) is sign strikers who have had a good record a couple years back or are new to the game.. This is the result of playing in league one and two most of our existence it will happen at most league one and two clubs.

I think you're referring to Thorne playing 77 games however the OP thinks you meant 77 as in the date

Whats an OP and who you refering to?
Im 40 years old! Hhhaha you daft t**t

Anyway i have been a hardcore city fan going to every game since i was a kid from 1987 to 2005 and then after leaving yorkshire and my career meaning i travel non stop and never in uk on saturdays i had a few years where i just followed the results, startef properly following again from 2011 onwards.

So yeah i thought you meant 1977

I remember Tony Adcock, Sean Mcarthy, Ron Futcher and all those guys from when i was around 10 or 12 years old, but dont remember this guy

Anyway, we still score far to few foals at home compared to other teams, just bring up the past seasons leage tables and have a look

Even when nearly getting promoted scoring 36 in very poor number, less than 2 per game average by some distance!!!

Nice bit of random aggression there I like it!! and I can't argue I am a bit of a t**t

    OP = Original poster

@How@How said Thorne scored 33 in 77 you then mentioned the date 1977 however he meant Thorne scored 33 goals in 77 games!! So this is where the confusion came from..

Peter Thorne was signed by Stuart McCall when he first came back as manager.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Thorne_(English_footballer)

Does that clear it up for you?

Shorter width ? How do you do that ? Was it really narrowed when MR was built ? You sure about that. What about length, VP is longer than most pitches.

Having a narrow pitch is a positive. The penalty area is smaller because the sides of the box are halfway between the post and the corner flag, so we give away less penalties.

The penalty area is the same size. It is an 18 yard box. It is 18 yards from the goal line to the edge of the box, and also 18 yards from the goal post to the edge width ways.

True that it’s 18 yards from the goal line but it’s not a standard width and ends halfway between the goalpost and touch line
