Such as what? The Tories have fecked the economy, health, public services, education, public transport and utilities. They’ve presided over the biggest fall in real wages since the 19th century and the biggest rise in income equality in living memory. And despite all their totally ineffective bleating about (a relatively small number of) asylum seekers they’ve got us in a situation where we’re requiring 750,000 legal immigrants just to keep our hospitals, care homes and hospitality industry functioning.
So which of all those things do you think that Labour could do any worse at than the Tories have?

Labour wanted, earlier, longer and harder lockdowns. Every time there’s a break in the cycle and Labour come to power, they worsen the debt position of the country by pouring money we don’t have into public services. Soft on defence, crime, immigration.

The labour leader doesn’t even seem to know what a woman is.

Not that I have any faith in any politician or political party at this point. They’re all a waste of space, and symbolic of the decline in western society.

Earlier lockdowns would have saved lives and money.
And you’re talking complete bollocks about government spending. This was in 2019, so nothing to do with the pandemic:

    upload_2024-4-3_19-6-53.png

I’m not interested in all that culture war shite. It’s not what wins elections and it’s not what most people care most about.
People want decent health services, decent care for the elderly, decent schools, decent rivers and public transport. And sufficient money in their pockets. The Tories have spectacularly fecked all of that for most people, apart from the top 10% or so. All of those things worked hugely better under Labour, before the Tories came to power and decimated everything with their economically illiterate austerity nonsense. Thankfully, most people in this country no longer want them to continue running this country into the ground so it’s time for Labour to rebuild the country again as they did after WW2.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. Likely coming from very different ends of the political spectrum, and I genuinely have no interest or enthusiasm to debate it.

They've still got a way to go until they catch labour. According to Wikipedia:

In January 2020, the Labour Party reported that 149 members resigned or were expelled during 2019 as a result of disciplinary processes relating to antisemitism. Of these, 45 members were expelled, compared to ten in 2018 and one in 2017.

I'm keeping out of the political debate now. Not because of anything written here, I've enjoyed the chat but because I personally cannot do anything about the corrupt political system we live under so I might as well talk bollox about summat else. I've realised the more I keep my nose out of it the less angry I get. That every penny I pay in tax in my life time won't even touch the sides of Boris Johnsons wallpaper grift or Angela Raynor's second home.
Always look after number one and your loved ones and fukc the system.

I'm with you. Maybe I'm just becoming a miserable old fart, but I'm convinced Western Society is failing. I'm serious about leaving the UK in 2 years - if we can avoid WW3 for that long! By that point, my youngest will have finished school and I'll have the financial means to do so, and likely semi-retire. A couple of attractive options I'm exploring, which I think will offer a much better way of life and prospects for my young-adult children and any offspring they produce!

What you knew as Western society will have changed beyond all recognition in a generation or two. But if you go back through history landscapes have changed over the centuries. If I could leave this country I would, I don't really have the financial means. But my wife does have the option of a German passport, it's the first time ive ever discussed anything like this with anyone and the wife would quite happily up sticks and move to Europe.
I went to Poland for a few weeks at Christmas and I didn't miss this country at all. I was brought up to believe it was this bastion of fairness, the stiff upper lip when in truth it's no different to anywhere else. All I see is a country a bit like Bradford in a way, a place that had it's day a long time ago.

So, I have family roots in Hungary. I have Aunts/Uncles/Cousins there, I used to work for a business that a presence there and have visited the country many times. I love it. Budapest is an awesome city and the area around Lake Balaton is stunning. Great food and drink, the people are passionate and protective of their culture, but super, super friendly. Its one of the options we're actively exploring. Increasingly, I can see it happening. The other, is a part of South Lanzarote - a few miles down from the heavily commercial and tourist area of Playa de las Americas. We holiday there a couple of times a year and absolutely love the place. The challenge now of course, is that its not as simple as pre-Brexit, but still do-able.

Unfortunately we have left it too late to leave. We have grandchildren who are now grown up or nearly there. I would really miss them if we took off abroad somewhere. I most certainly do not blame anyone for exploring options and deciding to leave. I feel like an alien in my own country. Apparently because I have a state pension I am burden. I have worked since the age of 15, and retired at 65. The latter part of my career I worked freelance. I am still paying tax, but nobody wants to acknowledge this fact.

The prospect of voting is sickening tbh. I have always voted, but the choices that are before me fill me with dread. I am now contemplating spoiling my ballot paper.

Yes. But the difference is that Labour is actively working to identify and expel its racist/antisemitic members. If Reform did that there’d be no party left.

But doesn't the link you've shared basically tell the same story? I.e. the Reform have dropped their candidates? Not that I'm putting in a show of support for Reform.

It’s slightly different in that most of the expulsions/resignations for racism/antisemitism in the LP are ordinary members, whereas Reform has sacked seven Candidates for this forthcoming local elections alone.
But my view is that if you scratch the surface you’d find that most Reform members hold views that are largely the same as the expelled Candidates.

Anyway. Seems like our PM not only looks ridiculous wearing trainers with suit pants, but he is now accused of single handedly destroying the street cred of Adidas Sambas
