Remember Alan B'stard ( Rik Mayall ) in The New Statesman. It used to seem far fetched but he seems a saint compared to todays MPs!

Good to see Sunak is after the lazy sick notes, blaming mental health. We have loads at work, I checked on of them on Facebook and they’re in Dubai currently sat on the beach. Of course the genuine mental health sick notes are going to have everything ruined because of laziness and self righteousness of this generation.

If anyone gets sent I will be surprised, and a bit of the small print, Rwanda are going to be sending people here in return.

The whole thing is embarassing, and on top of that Sunak who claims barks at any announcement by Labour to spend money asking where it is coming from, has just this morning written a cheque to Ukraine for £0.5bn.

This country is a laughing stock. 5 people have died in the channel this morning, they risk death trying to get here and Tory MPs are queuing up enmass to claim this Rwanda policy where say 200 of 40,000 crossing yearly might be sent to Rwanda is a deterrent.

Hopefully they are so decimated in the local elections that Sunak has to go to the polls as he has no choice because the party will remove him. I have always thought we had a two party system in the UK, but in reality Sunak is actually opening the door for a one party system and not only that seeing another party as the party of opposition.

Just out of interest, how do you think Lanour will deal with the out of control illegal immigration.

Personally, I think they will just open the doors to as many who want to come and sod the consequences of lack of housing, jobs, schools and doctors for them.

Whatever they do, it can hardly be worse than the Tories have done. All this focus on the boat people is a smokescreen. The Tories ripped us out of Europe, at terrible economic cost, in order to stop the influx of Poles and Bulgarians. So, instead, we had 750,000 legal immigrants from Africa and India/Pakistan last year to keep our vital health, social care and hospitality industries afloat (barely). Not exactly what all the Kippers voted for, is it?

Well anyone who thinks that giving £500m to Rwanda to send as many people as turned up on boats today in 1 day and channels that money elsewhere would be a better start.

The Tories waved in 750,000 people into this country last year, immigration they control and yet it is the small boats that are the issue.

They really are playing people for chumps for all those who lap this shitshow up.

Will Labour be any better, maybe, maybe not but what is clear is that the Tories aren't even coming close to stopping the problem of their own making.

Without wanting to go too deep into politics anymore, anyone who voted for the conservatives at this moment in time is an utter disgrace and should think long and hard about why they voted. I don't care how long you've been a Tory supporter, this last 10 years or so isn't a proper Conservative government, it's an embarrassment of people who should never be anywhere near serving the people of this country.
I'm getting angry now so I'm back out of here, that's what this set of imbeciles running this country does to your mental health.

“Yvette Cooper, the shadow home secretary, called the scheme an “extortionately expensive gimmick” and said that if Labour won the general election, it would introduce an alternative.

“This is not a serious plan to actually tackle the problem,” she told BBC Breakfast. “It’s costing around half a billion pounds for just 300 people to be sent to Rwanda, that’s less than 1% of asylum seekers. It’s not addressing the 99%, it’s not addressing the overall problem.

“That’s why Labour would replace the Rwanda scheme with a new plan to boost our border security, to go after the criminal gangs and their networks right across Europe,” she said. “We’d also have stronger powers, stronger intelligence agreements, and new fast-track systems in the UK, so that we have a new returns and enforcement unit”.

Practical plans to deal with the real problems. Not ridiculous hyper-expensive gimmicks that provide no deterrent, are doomed to failure and make us look a laughing stock around the world.

A Labour government will have much better relationships with European governments and authorities because Labour haven’t spent the last ten years slagging off the EU and dragging them through a load of hassle they could do without. So their chances of implementing something effective are far higher than the current shower of shite, who couldn’t organise an orgy in a brothel and whom the EU doesn’t trust as far as they could throw them.

Just for clarity, I think the Rwanda scheme has been disastrous ill thought out waste of money.

Despite being a lifelong Conservative voter, sorry @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart, I believe the current Government have let us down badly on immigration.

My point earlier though was what are Labour going to do about it, Starmer, Cooper and the rest have not come out with any plans to persuade me to vote for them, other than say we will handle it differently, how?

Immigration is my number one concern about the future of our country right now

Not bothered that you think I am a disgrace for voting Conservative, surely though you have to agree it was a far better option than voting for a Corbyn led Labour Party?

Nothing to be sorry for Idle, i've just never seen such an incompetent set of politicians in my life, that includes any party. This Rwanda thing is just the icing on the idiot cake, the conservatives have always been the party tough on things like immigration, law and order, nationalistic pride etc. This afternoon i've seen the capitals police turn on the very people it claims to be standing for, using the police exactly the same way Thatcher did with the miners. i mean, what exactly is the Tories policy on immigration? We're literally an open door, don't bother going through the right channels, just get in the queue at Calais where the RNLI will gladly pick you up. Sort of thing were told would happen under Labour, its happening under the watch of the Tories.
I'd take a Labour government tomorrow if it was possible because it is impossible to be any worse than what we are seeing.

Read it carefully, i specifically said now. I wouldn't have had a problem say 10 years ago but even then the weren't very good.

Sorry if it sounds condescending, wasn't my intention

We're also paying for the French to do their jobs yet what did we see yesterday it was reported economic migrants jumping on board an inflatable that they new wouldn't hold the amount who were trying to get on, we then find 5 people including infants drowned trying to cross the channel.
The bit I don't understand is why in the past they have punctured these inflatables but yesterday they stood by and watched what played out in front of them, a simple sharp instrument down both sides of the inflatable would have made sure that dingy could not be launched so why aren't the British government telling France up you game or we stop the payments that were agreed with regards stopping the boats.

The simple answer to these questions and to the whole charade is this.

The Rwanda scheme is an unworkable mess, all that Sunak wants to do is create an excuse as to why it's not his fault. Be that by saying the French aren't doing their job, Labour lords are blocking a bill or that lefty lawyers are stopping the flights. He really knows that Rwanda won't work, and when it fails it's first legal challenge it will be those lefty lawyers who will be to blame, not the joke legislation he passed that will never work as a deterrent when people are willing to die crossing the channel.

France don't want them on their side so they make no effort to stop them because they know lifeboats will pick them up to take them to the UK once they are far enough off shore. They might stop 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 to make it look like they are doing something for our money but again Sunak doesn't care because all he does is point at them saying that it is out of his control.

Sunak is the worst PM this country has ever seen. He is worse than Truss because at least Truss realised she wasn't up to the job and stepped down. Sunak can't even see this and his party's decimation in the next election is going to be a joy to behold, all because the people who keep him in power are more concerned about being ministers themselves than they are for the good of the country. James Cleverly is one of the most obvious who enjoys his position by basically embracing a "batshit" idea just so he can gain a promotion. Morals and Ethics ignored for a piece of power.

Probably the french police, like ours, are afraid of confrontation.......unless of course if it's a St.Georges day celebration ......

Do you think this is good politics?

Vote for us and then we'll tell you our plan.

That's the Labour way at the moment and it just makes me so uneasy. If you've got great ideas to fix the issues of our Country what's wrong with telling the electorate what they are?

Made me laugh the other day when the French police backed off on the beach and said the immigrants were getting aggressive. Perhaps issue the immigrants with football shirts and gauge the reaction then.

I would have thought that's what they were getting paid for, if they actually caught them early enough like the other day and punctured the dingy it might slow it down as the gangs who provide the dingy won't be giving them a refund.
