Whenever there's a change of government the economy is in a mess, whether it's blue or red. That's why they get voted out. The global economy isn't controlled by the politicians any more. The real powers behind economics are immune to the pressures of the hardship that the average person has to endure, rather they prosper from these struggles. It's mirrored in football, the more the top end prosper the harder it gets lower down the chain.

Well anyone who thinks that giving £500m to Rwanda to send as many people as turned up on boats today in 1 day and channels that money elsewhere would be a better start.

The Tories waved in 750,000 people into this country last year, immigration they control and yet it is the small boats that are the issue.

They really are playing people for chumps for all those who lap this shitshow up.

Will Labour be any better, maybe, maybe not but what is clear is that the Tories aren't even coming close to stopping the problem of their own making.

Do you think this is good politics?

Vote for us and then we'll tell you our plan.

That's the Labour way at the moment and it just makes me so uneasy. If you've got great ideas to fix the issues of our Country what's wrong with telling the electorate what they are?

Blair would have beaten Boris and in fact if the left had not got rid of him we would have had 20 years of a Labour Government by now.

Ive been listening to James OBrien this morning and for all his intellect he still doesn't get it. He can't understand why people vote for a liar in Johnson when the problem is far bigger than that. Until Labour make themselves a viable alternative Johnson could paper the walls of downing Street in £50 notes and he would still get elected.

Anyone wanting a laugh tune into the latest Labour party conference where you too can watch a once great party flounder around like a flapping fish out of water. Reading the crap on social medai from the likes of commie Corbyn they have no chance at the next election despite us enduring the worst set of ministers in power in living memory. Amusing in a way but also a really sad indictment of the times.

Unfortunately weak opposition means the government can continue to be useless and incompetent themselves, we’ll have at least another 9 years of this crap and a lot more if they aren’t sorted out by then.

It’s a meaningless pledge, we don’t have poverty due to low wages we have it due to high living costs. If you got £6 an hour in the 60’s you’d be rich due to the cost of living. If you got that now you can’t afford to live. All it would do is drive up prices of everything, a shop will straight away up the costs of their products, including food, if they had to pay their lowest workers £15 an hour then many wouldn’t be any better off. It’s a policy to try get a few cheap votes without actually acknowledging the consequences.

Watched the speech and well intentioned if a bit lackluster but he is as he is,
Would just add this in his favour, He seems an honest and serious politician with honest values, The question the electorate need to answer is do they want a prime minister who is serious and honest or a Buffoon who sees nothing wrong in bluster and lying when it suits him

There are some well respected backbenchers who are straight talking; honest and who act with integrity. The likes of Tobias Ellwood, Tom Tugendhat and maybe Jonny Mercer would all help to restore faith in the curent Govt. I doubt that could be said for most of the current Cabinet!

Johnson made him look a bit of a dick yesterday and I can't figure out how Starmer let it happen.

He'd basically asked 6 questions about something pretty irrelevant that he knew Johnson could bat away by saying he couldn't talk about it because of the investigations. Johnson then turned the questions into spieling all the things that they were actually "dealing" with that were more important than cake. It made it look like Starmer was interested in minutiae and soundbites but the Government were actually cracking on with things.

How Starmer got to his 2nd or 3rd question and didn't realise what was going on and change tactics I have no idea but he kept plugging on.

The Sturgeon thing is a prime example showing that people who go on about believing in high ethics and morals in politics believe in no such thing. They just want to bash the Torys.

Wrongdoing by anyone else - especially a party on the traditional left - is just glossed over. Its pretty funny.

How anybody could write a letter like that and think it was a great point - let alone send it in to a newspaper - is shocking to me.

All the battles that the Labour Party have fought to show that racism/antisemitism isn't an underlying part of their beliefs and one of their long standing members does something like that? It's just plain weird.

I can't believe there is a large section of the public trying to defend Abbott with that phrase 'whataboutery'. 'But Diane has been subject to awful racism' like thats some sort of defence for her utter stupidity. The very same people who chastise us folk for pulling up Alistair Campbell on twitter for pointing out his 'misdemeanours' years ago when he attacks others. As someone whose wifes family lost a relative at Auschwitz i find this kind of racism points scoring attempt by Abbott as not only bizarre but utterly repulsive. But then shes built her whole political career as a one trick pony, she has no other cards in her hand. Contradicting the agenda they claim to uphold.

My grandad came over here from Ireland many moons ago and suffered badly from anti Irish sentiment, my wifes family had to leave Germany in 1938 despite generations of them being from the country. Yet this seems to escape Abbott. Forget the pathetic apology, she knew exactly what was going through her head when she wrote that 'draft'. I'd actually feel sorry for her for the stick she gets if she was anyone else. But she has brought this all on herself, shes made a very successful career out of racism and the irony of what is happening to her is delicious.

Yet the Tories letting in a million in only two years is not uncontrolled immigration?
Its probably more than Labour let in the whole time they were in power,
