Trueman and Sellars - permanent deal

Apparently we need a reet good tonkin' before we can offer them a deal.

At least that's what some are saying on here, because until said tonkin' we don't know what they're really made of as managers - which makes sense when the fan base has been indoctrinated to expect one year extensions to any manager on a losing streak

 

They won't go back to the youth set up at least not for a good while, they have had a taste of the big time now and will want to pursue that for a few years now.
If they fail with us they will most likely move elsewhere and try their luck for a couple of years, if it doesn't work you might see them back at a club in the youth set up but once you have put the big boy pants on you don't really want to go back to short trousers.
I am curious at how they will manage in game when we do go behind and are chasing the game but it's too late to put them back in the box now, we might as well commit fully, I think if it had only been two or three games it might have been different but even though it's only eight games so far it has been a long time in the job with us not playing for a couple of weeks.

 

I'd just go for it and give them a deal, it may work it may not, but I think just about all City fans will buy into the direction of the cub and get right behind them. There young with a fresh approach and 2 of our own so why not.
For the first time in a very long time it feels like we're all pulling in the same direction. Even if the wheels come off I think we will all ride it out with no knee jerk reactions and appreciate the club trying a different approach from the old tried and failed one, and I think these 2 will only get better with experience.

 

My honest assessment is simple, they’ve been bloody fantastic and they’ve fully restored my optimism!

Firstly my apologies, I’ve not been on much in the last couple of months. Kids and work keeping me busy ahaha. But I just wanted to make a thread to say I’m back and to say Trueman and Sellars are gonna take us all the way, I just know it!

I can say under these two we may actually go unbeaten for the rest of the season.

These two have fully restored my confidence and optimism and I’m also happy with Ryan Sparks now, all of them are doing a grand job of steadying the ship and I’m officially giving them my Seal of Approval !!

We’re gonna smash Exeter today and get closer to the playoffs, we’re going up this season 100%!

COME ON CIIITTYYY!!!!!!

I would think T&S have Sparks & Rupp's backing and will have the job until the end of this season then IMO is the time for all concerned to review our situation, fans go on about getting them tied down/ signed up to a longer contract, they have done an exceptional job so far but I honestly can't see another club showing enough interest to try and turn their heads at the present time.

 

Am I the only one who thinks they are keeping the bench warm until we appoint someone they have targeted and agreed to take over in the summer?
I think they would have been appointed full time now, otherwise.

It's just until the takeover is finalised and completed. Allegedly.

 

I genuinely believe Ryan Sparks was caught between the devil and the deep blue sea when it came to finding McCall's successor.
Trueman and Sellers have surprised and for now taken him back with their professional application and appetite for the job.
The proof of the pudding of course will come with a downturn in results and how they handle affairs but untill then they have the reins.Good Luck to them both

I don't think anyone expects nor wants that.
The reality is that these are two green managers and unlike a tried and tested manager you've no past experience to base a decision on as to how they'll handle certain situations such as going behind in a game, losing a game or even a string of bad results.
@Fordy117 made a good point about the lad at Bournemouth who was sacked this month. He was promoted up to the job with no previous experience. He did okay until the wheels started to come off and he couldn't arrest the slide.
At the moment the job is there's to lose but if we put pen to paper now I think it could turn into another McCall contract extension scenario if we have a bad run of form between now and the end of the season

 

Well I for one wouldn't work under those circumstances..

 

But maybe they are happy to revert back to their roles in the academy.

A telling quote from Sparks today perhaps, suggesting they understand the situation?

Well we could have appointment Hurst he is doing well isn’t he. All appointments are a risk we should take it

 

I can’t think of one manager I’d like to replace them, or could do as good a job (pre window) as they did. Quite rightly there’d be uproar on here.

 

I agree, I want them signed up permanently. We shall see in due course.
