After watching the first few games I said back in December giving these two a longer run could prove to be a masterstroke. Full credit to Ryan Sparks for taking a gamble on them.
Nobody expected them to do the job they have done but, remarkably, we are still to go a goal behind under them after seven games. I think they deserve a longer deal as the OP suggests.
Grimsby are hardly ripping it up under Paul Hurst either are they.

Keep things as they are then if they keep doing well make it permanent. No point rushing into a decision for once we hold some cards and are in a position not to be bent over.

With regards to our 2 interim managers ,at the moment they have the security that if things turn for the worst they can fall back into their old jobs with the under 18s ,but if they become full time joint managers they no longer have that security if sacked and will become unemployed. They are doing a great job for us and I feel if any club comes knocking I think they would turn it down due to the same reasons. The best way forwards would be for Sparks to give them a contract stipulating that in the event of them been replaced they don't get sacked but to return to coaching with the youth teams.

I'm surprised people are still talking about formally appointing them until the end of the year.
For me they deserve at least a two year contract, if not more. Otherwise just leave it as it is, all managers are "interim" in reality anyway.Idlebantam, Inspector and bantamdave41 like this. -

My honest assessment is simple, they’ve been bloody fantastic and they’ve fully restored my optimism!
Firstly my apologies, I’ve not been on much in the last couple of months. Kids and work keeping me busy ahaha. But I just wanted to make a thread to say I’m back and to say Trueman and Sellars are gonna take us all the way, I just know it!
I can say under these two we may actually go unbeaten for the rest of the season.
These two have fully restored my confidence and optimism and I’m also happy with Ryan Sparks now, all of them are doing a grand job of steadying the ship and I’m officially giving them my Seal of Approval !!
We’re gonna smash Exeter today and get closer to the playoffs, we’re going up this season 100%!
COME ON CIIITTYYY!!!!!!

Trueman and Sellars deserve an 18 month deal. Eight games unbeaten before today and they’ve made players who looked awful under Stuart look very good - Sutton and Watt to name two.
Today we deserved to get beat but with four key men ruled out, three unexpectedly, I don’t see what else they could have done.
We didn’t look as solid as we have with Evans and Clarke alongside Cooke and we missed Sutton after he was subbed. We have to be realistic, though, and we aren’t gonna win every game.
It is going to be interesting to see what the response is on Tuesday as if we win that and leapfrog Scunny we’re bang in contention to push into the top half.
Come on lads. Show us what you’ve got....Bronco, Idlebantam and Captain Grumpy like this. -
Whilst it was a bad day at the office yesterday, it wasn't a disaster.
It wasn't a great start losing our strongest forward line, but we still managed to look dangerous at times going forward with pace, which is something we've been crying out for.
And we scored twice - both debut goals too. One thing we've lacked up until recently is fire power up front and in the last few weeks that problem seems to be receding. 7 goals in three games from 5? different players. Not bad.
Whilst Exeter dominated possession they reallly didn't tear us a new one. In fact, to say they're top scorers in this division, they didn't look any better than Barrow or Sarf End in the final third.
The big failing was Stevens who had a poor game. This left a fairly inexperienced player (FCD) exposed and at times overrun. I think T&S should've addressed that earlier in the game but they to are still learning I suppose.
It's one defeat. Let it go and lets move on. The big test now for T&S is how they turn it around for Tuesday. I hope this game goes ahead because I think we need to get this defeat out of our system as quickly as possible.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... 1 game doesn't mucky their ticket. But a big part of why I think its right for us to take more time before, is to see how they work with the squad we now have. They landed into into a situation whereby there was very little pressure on them, but the pressure is now On. What worries me is that the last 2 performances have been poor to average. How much of their first 7 or 8 games was down to putting in place a sensible system and working on the basics? Not that it wasn't right or necessary to do so, but can they now build on those basics to shape a side thats able to play better and more effective football going forward? They now have better players to work with, the pressure will ramp up. Let's see how they manage.

The more I think about this situation, and hear comments from T&S saying they are comfy with the situation, the more I come to the conclusion that there is a new permanent manager lined up for next season who is either contracted or on garden leave. I think T&S are (and have been since the start) fully aware of this, and its partly why they are so relaxed.
I'm also starting to wonder if there a part completed takeover somewhere in the background (DB and/ or ML & the ex Burnley Owner ??) and that's where the money came from. Basically both a new owner and a new manager pulling the strings.
Not against the idea, but keeping rookie managers beyond 4 games and an effective January transfer window just arent the "old" BCAFC way.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...vladimir, Tony Wilkinson and Idlebantam like this. -
As for Wood, he has had moments of brilliance defensively in the past so it is in his locker. I get the feeling he will be off in the summer though, even if a decent offer to stay is on the table from us. I listened to an interview he did with JR a couple of weeks ago and he mentioned that he lives alone and all his friends and family are down south. That's hard for a young lad at the best of times but during a pandemic when he is stuck on his own inside 4 walls apart from when he is training and on match days, it must be extremely difficult. I'd like to be wrong and see him sign an extension, but if he has the chance to move to a club closer to home, I wouldn't blame him if he takes it.WilsdenBantam, ahar964 and Rogered Tart like this. -

And drawing upon Sparks comments, T&S certainly do deserve the applause from a VP crowd for their hard work and excellent turnaround in attitude, performance and results.

Gomes is good though, would like him. Although he wouldn't be cheap considering he's the only player who can actually play football in that side.Inspector, Chad and Morley Bantam like this. -
If they have someone lined up god knows where that leaves these two. We’ve now got the best form in the league over the last 10 games. They aren’t gonna be happy returning to the academy now, surely? They deserve the job full time on merit.

Its T&S and nobody else unless they refuse a deal. Trueman wants it but is happy to wait until end of season. The lads could name their price if the form continues...JonButterfield, Inspector and Bronco like this.
