Bang on the money Andy, these are my sentiments entirely. To me, i'd rather spend the extra on a season ticket than a shirt or merchandise from the club because the season ticket money goes direct to the club whereas the club only makes a very small percentage of the sale of shirt.

Agree but my feeling is that the likes of @Park bantam@Park bantam have got use to the cheap prices and know it makes sense but will say otherwise.

The club needs to increase their season ticket cost.

One thing that might come out of todays meeting is that a number of EFL2 clubs & National League wont enter the 20/21 season !. One option being rather than face the uncertainty financially and operationally ? It would be make more sense to place memberships "on ice" and look for a "thaw" in 21/22. Do not expect City in that number but a merger of FL2 and Nat League on a semi-professional basis may be a logical course. Certainly when the two leagues are essentially the same level.

They can't at the moment, but need to in the long term.

Why not? The season is going to start without fans.

    Doh!

Is it 3 maybe 4 years ago that Luton were a National league side? And I only used them as an example of team In a town/city not that dissimilar in make up to Bradford.

My point was made in argument to the poster who said that we should oppose a salary cap as we had ‘big gates’ and should use them to our advantage.

My point was that it isn’t about ‘big gates’ it’s about revenue, money, as this is what gives you the wherewithal to out bid, out compete, financially out muscle your competition.
    Nice but incredibly naive.

It’s all about the money. In the main those with money will rise and stay at the top (whatever top that is) and those without have a chance of touching it but will ultimately fall.

At our level £1M extra revenue is absolutely huge and reduces the reliance on the owner putting his or her hand in their pocket each year.

Yes it needs to be spent right, managed right but it is still the basis of everything.

In my opinion we are deliberately tying one hand behind our own backs by continuing to offer such ridiculously cheap STs.

Madness isn't it? We keep hearing this sustainable club mantra but that sustainability can only come from the fans pockets. If the owner is having to fund it thats not sustainability. Put it this way, if by some miracle we get promoted and say, stick the price up to £200. We have 12,000 ticket holders but we lose 2000 because of the price increase. Its worth losing those 2,000 fans because we actually bring in an extra £200,000 in revenue. Forget lost merchandise and food sales, the figures would miniscule. The 2,000 wouldn't have spent any money in the shops anyway if they aren't will to pay an extra £50 on a ticket.

As I stated before we were on the brink of the championship with affordable football and because we did well we were drawing the crowds.
Increased pricing would decrease crowds matchday and sponsorship taking. And so there is no Evidence that it would increase revenue. We have had competitive budgets over the last few seasons and blown it on underachievers get that right and nobody will be talking about prices.

Agree, but I don’t think we’d lose fans if it was a reasonable increase done at the right time. Say we won league 2, stuck them up by £75 with a good marketing campaign the feel good factor would draw people in regardless of price increase. It won’t happen like, but it’s nice to fantasise about.

It may have escaped your attention but we'rein league 2 having just had two of the worst season i can ever remember. Now call me stupid if you want, but i'd say this might not be the right time to put up prices. Just a hunch like...

I agree. It's all in the timing. We missed a great opportunity to raise the price of STs after our success in the play-offs but for some strange reason chose not to do so. And that sums up the club at times. Getting the timing wrong and missing a golden opportunity to raise a little more money when the fans are on a high having been promoted.

At this level, we spent a stupid amount of money this/last season (whatever we want to call it).

There is no need for any League Two club to spend £2.5m on wages. There is no argument to be made that we needed to spend more - none whatsoever.

In League One, we aren't going to compete with the structures of clubs like Sunderland, Ipswich, Blackburn, Millwall, or any other BIG club that ends up in that division for a season or two - the idea that we could increase our gate receipts and somehow be a considerably stronger force in League One is, to quote @Feats Don't Fail Me Now@Feats Don't Fail Me Now about Park's post, naive.

Look at the clubs that made up the top six in this season's League One table. Did all six teams have a considerably higher wage bill than we had when we finished bottom? Did all six teams require significantly over-the-odds war chests to compete with Sunderland and Ipswich?

    NOPE.

Unlimited sums of money does pretty much guarantee success. Having 'a bit more' money does not.

Unless I'm mistaken, we haven't TRULY fallen victim to not having enough money since the dreadful period when we sold JJ and Deano.

A mixture of luck ( correct signings ) and good fortune will probably sum up the coming season .

No, not writing him off. Just think that a player from BPA loan highlights me we have no money.

We wasn't taking about him early in the year. Who the other 3?

I wouldn't worry too much about the angry poster, but we need to wait and see with Staunton.
