Mansfield are playing it smart, If the cap is introduced it will either not come in till the 21/22 season and existing players signed will not count to allow time for clubs to come in to compliance, The signings now will not count and those clubs prepared to make early use of the players now looking for clubs may well take advantage,

Broadly agree with @bantam2708@bantam2708 @The Evidence@The Evidence & @trevor@trevor . If we have players signed before the rule is implemented, then they should be exempt. I guess if a squad cap is introduced, and it is on the basis of 22 players, then simple arithmetic suggests an allowance of around £68,181 per player, per annum, if the salary cap is £1.5 million.
So the EFL has to work out a system if it says that there would be A limited budget. Should there be a ceiling payment for any new player. I accept that some players breaking through from the juniors, or in the twilight of their career may get less, but struggle to see an easy formula.

You are completely missing the point regarding the loaning out of young players. The idea is for them to go out and play first team football in a mens league to gain experience and learn what it is like. They then return (hopefully) better able to cope with the demands of EFL football. That is what should be happening with all the younger players. Stuart obviously saw something in the lad a few years ago, so lets hope he has kicked on at BPA and challenges for a place at VP this year.

Yes I get that, but I don't understand the comment "It stinks of an excuse to do things on the cheap" obviously if the majority go for a cap then we have to go with the majority but as we are voting against then surely the club cant be accused of that.

I'm with you on this train of thought Bronco.
The club aren't trying to do anything on the cheap infact if it wasn't for the furlough scheme, JCT and Utilita renewed financial sponsorship packages god knows we're we would be.
The club will be hoping the New Kit will generate much needed revenue but that will be down to personal taste and they don't know how well received that's going to by supporters.
Personally I don't think there is any hidden agenda but having been in administration twice I wouldn't expect anything less than caution during the coming months.

If people listen to the interview on the BBC with Ryan Sparks where he says that the cap isn’t going to interfere much with the signings planned this season it’s the future under the proposal they are worried about

Yes he did, but also said we'd be conducting our business as if there was a cap, therefore hindering ourselves for no realistic reason.

Mansfield are playing a dangerous game if that's the case and it's believed the salary cap will be implemented this coming season, although he said there was a lot that had been done already, saying there is a compensation arm to the salary cap whatever that means, those clubs who have signed players pre to the agreement of a salary cap will not be penalised ?.

Breaking news, the first of many?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53247333

If the salary cap is brought in this coming season, how do the likes of sunderland/ipswich and even good old huddersfield fit into the cap.
    A level playing field?
    Not likely.

That's the thing. Mansfield are signing players now, before any legally binding regulations are approved or even agreed. There is no way the EFL can punish them for these signings and also they must be included in the 'compensation arm.'

So, if we're opposed to the cap, then good. But lets get ahead of the game just in case it comes into play. It would be nice to see us proactive and think outside the box for once.

Ryan said we'd done work in that area, so maybe we have players ready for signing once the start of the season is announced, which makes sense as any new signing would get there full salary rather than being furloughed until the start of the season.

Market seems to be picking up after yesterday's meeting. Crewe and FGR have made their first signings today.

Why can’t they punish them they knew there was a chance of this coming and chose to ignore it. If it is applied I am sure the other clubs will have their say
