Mccall doesn’t need to comment on it. He’s hardly gonna say we expect Vaughan to leave just in case anything doesn’t happen or falls through.
Also if anyone looks to sign any of our players we would consider it. Plus I reckon spearing has asked what the clubs plans are for other signings and liked what he heard

That’s football isn’t it? All got a prediction. I predict Vaughan will have gone before season starts. If he went and we didn’t replace his wages with a couple of signings I’d be seriously worried

 

It's really unprofessional as well.

 

Its nailed on Vaughan won't be here, he enjoyed being there during his spell and its very close to home. Just a case of the two clubs sorting a deal out, hopefully in time for us to source a replacement. If his wages were to go into recruiting new players then some positive out of it.

 

Here's a solution for the worried masses. Instead of stalking him on twitter, judge how he behaves on the grass once the season starts.

If he's already gone by then you're no worse off and it saves all the constant speculation.

No but these stories come round all the time and then we get criticism from the cynics say we can’t afford players when there has been no interest at all

I have no doubt Vaughan would like to sign for Tranmere but city have made it abundantly clear that to do so will cost them. Let’s see if they have the money.
I think Vaughan will be here but if he isn’t I expect at least a decent replacement

 

Joe Riley was on decent terms, so at least thats a bit more potential scope for new signings

 

I think the last part is my main worry, if I had any confidence in us adequately replacing him then i'd be more than happy with the mantra of "well if he doesn't want to be here, get rid" but I just have zero confidence in us replacing him with somebody capable of scoring a decent amount - a problem being made worse when none of our other forwards are exactly prolific.

 

Don't forget the wages he is on Park, a considerable whack for a league 2 player. The club publicly will say they want him to stay as not to show a weak hand but its no secret they would be willing to move on any of the big earners.

 

It's not like we haven't got form for it is it. Last season swindon had our pants down and embarrassed us proper. This situation will be no different. I expect us to play the "he won't go anywhere unless a good financial offer comes in" nonsense in the press whilst we fanny around trying to find a guaranteed 20 goal a season striker willing to play for peanuts.

It's almost inevitable that it'll be a small/nominal fee for Vaughan topped up with add ons based on if they get promoted or not, which as I've said before on TCA is pretty much the perfect type of transfer for the buying club - how often can you buy a player and only have to pay the full price if it guarantees you success?

 

I wouldn’t even mind if it was a lad from the conference who had a couple of good seasons. At least it would show we had a plan and knew who we wanted in.

Chances are Vaughan will go, we will turn around scratching our heads at who to get in and be left with a hole at start of the season as no one will “do us a favour”. We will then sign anyone to fill the gap and probably a garbage 18 year old on loan no one else wanted. We’ve got form for it. Just look at January
