He Left Blyth for no fee due to a rule of a 14 day notice. and i would imagine he has a similar clause in his contract for a club higher up the football pyramid

Mccall doesn’t need to comment on it. He’s hardly gonna say we expect Vaughan to leave just in case anything doesn’t happen or falls through.
Also if anyone looks to sign any of our players we would consider it. Plus I reckon spearing has asked what the clubs plans are for other signings and liked what he heard

That’s football isn’t it? All got a prediction. I predict Vaughan will have gone before season starts. If he went and we didn’t replace his wages with a couple of signings I’d be seriously worried

Here's a solution for the worried masses. Instead of stalking him on twitter, judge how he behaves on the grass once the season starts.

If he's already gone by then you're no worse off and it saves all the constant speculation.

I think the last part is my main worry, if I had any confidence in us adequately replacing him then i'd be more than happy with the mantra of "well if he doesn't want to be here, get rid" but I just have zero confidence in us replacing him with somebody capable of scoring a decent amount - a problem being made worse when none of our other forwards are exactly prolific.

It's not like we haven't got form for it is it. Last season swindon had our pants down and embarrassed us proper. This situation will be no different. I expect us to play the "he won't go anywhere unless a good financial offer comes in" nonsense in the press whilst we fanny around trying to find a guaranteed 20 goal a season striker willing to play for peanuts.

I wouldn’t even mind if it was a lad from the conference who had a couple of good seasons. At least it would show we had a plan and knew who we wanted in.

Chances are Vaughan will go, we will turn around scratching our heads at who to get in and be left with a hole at start of the season as no one will “do us a favour”. We will then sign anyone to fill the gap and probably a garbage 18 year old on loan no one else wanted. We’ve got form for it. Just look at January

Ah, shit they found us. Can you guys take this crap back to the thread the rest of us escaped from, please? It's the same point every single time. I understand how you feel. I think some people agree with you. And I think some people don't. I can't do anything about it and if all you can do about it is repeat this opinion ad nauseum then you should be able to see that it's perhaps a waste of time.

Very anonymous against Harrogate last week, hooked at half time. I would imagine he is no better than Guthrie

O’Donnell is more than capable. Even if we got promoted I’d be confident he’d do a job in league one for first season at least.

Got to say, League Two looks wide open next season.

    We've every chance.

We weren't doing well in performance terms though. Watching the games live you could sense we'd ridden some luck and it didn't seem like we were capable of sustaining it.

We simply can't let Vaughan leave. Not after today's news. He will be on very good wages at this level and while it would open up the budget slightly we wouldn't find anyone with his quality. Being left with Donaldson, Novak and Guthrie would be a disaster.

Its that saying thats just been mentioned, 'good in his day'. We need somebody good now, not 5 years ago.

I hope not. He wouldn't be a terrible signing but for the wages i'd rather we take a chance on someone 7-10 years younger who might actually improve over time.

We sign too many players who are in a decline. I liked the signing of Cooke and Watt, they are in their prime and might get even better. If we are signing someone who is 30 I want them to be at their best now, not eight years ago.

I think people are underestimating how a player with pace can change the dynamics of a game. It makes the defence second guess itself, can't just push up to the half way line because of the threat of the ball over the top. Parkinson used it to great effect in league with with Wells, a fair few of his goals were because he panicked defenders into mistakes by chasing a lost cause.
For Connolly to be effective though he has to develop a 'football brain.' No good having pace and just being a headless chicken.

"All it takes is a phone call!" always gets me... Do we take from that, that Stuart is waiting by the phone for agents to call him, trying to tie up deals for their out of contract clients who nobody else wants, or do we have any sort of proactive transfer plan, whereby Stuart does the ringing, actually asking about players he's interested in?!

"All it take is a phone call" suggests its being left to chance, and Stuart isn't working through a list of targets, if he was, you'd think he'd have been through the entire list by this point! All a bit haphazard for my liking im afraid, but so City..

A RB is an absolute must, and as you rightly say a tough tackilng CM. Any injury to Cooke and we're down to the bare bones straight away in midfield, its where we were found out last season and the season before, as we offered nothing in that area. I'm not sure if Pritchard is really up to the job on the left, id like to see us get a natural left sided player with pace, and again some more youth and pace up front considering our forward line has a combined age of 469 and a turning circle and pace of a large oil tanker. Maybe young Prem/Champ loans, or dip into the best of non league for most of those areas, all except CM where I think we should be looking at proven quality

Depends on what the deal is with Tranmere. If they pay a decent fee for Vaughan than that money has to be used to strengthen and getting in Roberts and Tshimanga (I'm greedy), would certainly do that and show some ambition and intent. However, this is City so it's more likely we'll let him go for nowt, continue to pay a percentage of his wages and let him score a hatrick against us.
