Transfer Rumours 2019/20

Quantity no. Quality yes. But Akpan is the only he could potentially shift on and looks like he is here to stay. We don;t want another bloated squad like last season. He has only just signed 2 midfielders last week!!!

CM - Palmer, Cooke, Akpan, Devine, Reeves (EDIT: Anderson) - forgot him!
AM/WG - Scannel, Ismael, Devitt, Gibson, Wood

Definitely need a striker. He may be in for a LB if Henley is injured for a while. God knows what has happened to Longbridge. Looks like a dud. Was he upset his flat mate Hippo didnt get signed?

 

How many midfielders do you want?

 

Quality not quantity! The ones we have that play in the position we need (holding role, Akpan, Devine) are not good enough.

 

Maybe 3 who can do their job would be a great start.

 

Unless he shifts on Akpan then no chance. He will have to make do with what he has got. The big question is he has signed 3 players on loan for AM/CM places and not one of those is a holding. Why?

 

I want a strong midfielder who can put his foot in and give it to the other more creative ones to create our chances.

We have a few who are very similar and the one who we need to be that man is akpan. He is slow and cannot grab the game by the scruff of the neck

 

We brought two in this week along with Palmer

 

Cooke can play there

 

Cooke did more as a holding midfielder in his short spell on the field than Akpan has managed in the rest of the games combined.

 

What’s midfield got to do with bringing in Edmondson? We’ve got JV/CD and then we’re down to SM/OP.

We have plenty midfielders. It’s just they’re all shite. I doubt very much GB is going to bring another one in now as he seems to believe he’s got the right mix there. I agree we need an enforcer and can’t understand why he hasn’t brought one in as it’s glaringly obvious, but it doesn’t look like it’s a priority for him.

 

The worrying thing for me is how ineffective Palmer looks. With Devitt and Cooke coming in it could be that Palmer is not needed now which could free up a loan move for a defensive midfielder. I don't mind Devine but still failing to see what Akpan brings to the team. We don't need Devitt, Cooke, Palmer and Anderson within the squad.

I didn't make Saturdays game so I'm hoping you're right about Cooke because Devitt isn't the answer in centre midfield.

 

Devitt will score us goals from midfield, I am confident of that. He should have scored on Saturday to be honest, but the fact his instinct got him into that position bodes well for me

 

Even if he scores goals from midfield?

 

I honestly do not think we're far away from being a decent outfit. We are a striker short, if the rumours about Edmondson from Leeds are true then he could be the final piece of the jigsaw. Personally I'd like to see a left sided wide player brought in also but that would be it. I think we'll be at or very near to the FFP ceiling now, so cant see any more central midfielders being brought in, we're well stocked here yet if theres any movement out this week then that changes everything. A ball winner should then be targeted.

The squad on paper is looking healthy, just hope GB quickly identifies his strongest line up and formation and sticks to it! I really dont see the need to over complicate football in the Khazi league.

 

Agree on Palmer - folk were crowing over him after the Liverpool game. He is an ineffective crab who brings very little from what I seen so far.

But he is with us until January at least.

 

But how well? Im not convinced we need one rather have someone creative and a box to box.
