I hope it’s just Bowyer being clever by saying he hopes he gets all the money from Doyle wages, so agents don’t demand too much for players?

Maybe I’m being too optimistic and we are now skint?

 

Bowyer didn’t say we were poor he said there was of course things we can improve on

 

He said the performance wasn't good. He stopped the interviewer straight away. Said the only thing that was good was the score line.

You seriously need to open your eyes when watching games. We were not good at all.

Saturday was all about the result against a really poor team.

Its refreshing to see us not give a team a first win of the season, like we have always done in the past when a team arrives on a Bab run. The difference this season is our forrard line.

He did the exact same at Blackpool whilst having the likes of Jimmy Ryan and Spearing on the books, I’m fine with it most managers do it. You never hear managers saying we have plenty of money to play with.

Don’t worry Fordy we aren’t talking about your beloved Liverpool or Man City so I wouldn’t expect you to know what’s going on.

Hopefully more poor 3-0 wins to come, what happened to it been a results business?

 

It's just a few meaningless words with the same punch line we've always had;

There's a massive deficit and we need to balance the books.

At Blackpool he was spending money.

Look, he shouldn't have to play the media. We clearly did let Doyle go to free money up.

Bowyer strikes me as a straight talker he says what he thinks. I don't think he's a media game player.

Remember he left Blackpool during a summer transfer window.

 

Do we? Not many football clubs operate that way

 

We were good in spells. We defended set pieces well, we looked a threat whenever we got the ball into the box. Our centre backs looked commanding and the keeper looks more confident.

But the midfield is a problem. Devine improved second half, but there hasn't really been a prolonged spell in any of our games where the midfield has controlled the game. If we can be good in both boxes, it matters less, but against the better teams in the league we may struggle.

I still think we need a left winger. But first and foremost, the most important signing we need to make is a commanding CM who can put his foot in. If we can add another who's more creative, great. Then its a case of adding a left winger. We'll need another striker too, but we won't get all of the above unless Akpan moves on.

 

All managers play the media. All of them. Its a key part of the role.

I have no problem with us crying the poor tale in public. What matters is what we do. With the McBurnie money and Doyle's salary, it'll be piss poor if we don't add 2-3 more.

 

You cannot play poorly and win three nil, just doesn't happen. What BowyerS is saying, and quite rightly, is that there is a lot of room for improvement. Saturday has to be tempered with the fact we played a very poorly set up team with a manager and owner as mad as what we had a season ago. What Park alludes to is right, going 4-4-2 left us vulnerable in midfield but allowed us to go more direct. Oldham tried the fancy stuff we'd been trying to do in the first two games, had we have carried on the same way we played the first two games we would not have won on Saturday.

 

I’ve spoken to the guy who used to interview him at the Blackpool Gazette. Said he’s a great guy and good manager, but he’s very media savvy he knows exactly what he’s doing when it comes to the media. Just look at how much work he’s put into getting our fans onside over the summer, trust me he isn’t daft.

Don’t worry mate I’ll be right behind you moaning if we don’t bring a couple in, but I don’t for one minute believe we won’t strengthen. Bit of patience is sometimes needed, it could go to deadline day as you see with a lot of football clubs.

 

Whats said in public and whats going on behind closed doors are two completely different things.
End of last season we had a lot of PR about offloading players before we could make signings and yet we had an influx of signings. The only notable exit being Wright to LO.
Given that Doyle is still a City player then GB has to be careful about what he says. Whether his hand was forced or whether after 3 games he realised he wasn't going to fit into his plans other than a bench warmer we'll not know.
If he was only going to play second fiddle to Vaughan and Donaldson then he was a very expensive luxury.
I hope he does really well at Swindon. It will hopefully mean we can sell in January and pump the funds back into the kitty for our own winter recruitment

We could only sell Doyle to Swindon in Jan in reality. He has already played for us & them this season and couldn't therefor play for a 3rd club in the 2019-2020 season.

 

Well we'll have to wait and see I guess, if no more players come in then maybe the funds have been clawed back. Personally I think GB is simply playing the media game there. Fully expect to see incomings
