Wonder if hes actually told any of them they should look to move on? With this new found galvanised spirit and team bonding and work ethic hes instilled in the closed season, I guess Bowyer will have to tread very carefully not to disrupt that at this stage.

That said, not sure how he'll isolate any and make it clear they're not in his plans without doing just that! Catch 22. Central midfield and wide left are still looking a bit thin, even if Taylor signs for the middle, we still need to make room for some pace on the left

Maybe that so called missing link on the left is already at the club - Joe Riley impressed on Sunday, and could very well do a job at left midfield?

Just speak to them like adults I suppose? Tell them that they aren't first choice and they are free to leave but equally if they want to stay and work hard then the door is always open for them to prove him wrong.

Maybe I'm simplifying it too much and we all know footballers can sometimes have huge egos and act like babies at times but being honest with players should only help avoid unnecessary conflict in the long run.

He's right footed though so we still have an issue with cutting inside and slowing it all down. For me we're desperately short of a proper left midfielder and without one we're always going to look unbalanced.

I'm not sure hes attack minded enough for me to play that far forward, isnt he naturally right footed? Definite square peg in a round hole for me that one, and although hes definitely showed glimpses in pre season, I still dont think hes what we need. An expensive luxury that could be put to better use!

God no, same for wood playing LW. They're defenders and need to be played in defence if at all. No more square pegs in round holes this season please.

Let’s not go square pegs yet.

We have time to get a couple more in, even if it’s loans but we do need some bite in midfield and a left winger.

And even cover for the wing. Otherwise we are a Scannell injury spell of last season away from having no right wingers again

I agree about squarepegs and round holes, but Wood was much better in left midfield than he was at left back. He's no winger though (nor left back for that matter)

We could have had one decent midfielder out of Anderson's, Colville's and Devine's collective wage. I like what Bowyer's done this pre season but offering contracts to those 3 was a poor decision.

Did he get that much better? I didn't see it. However I do hope he has a good season this season and proves Bowyer right.

    Ismael?

I'm presuming Scannell will be used on the left. I hope not but that's mostly where I've seen him in pre season.

As things stand I'm having AOC in midfield. He's played there before and is the only one capable of doing any sort of defensive work.

Without reinforcements we're one injury to Scannell/Palmer from looking very poor in midfield.
