Just out of curiosity, why is Spearing a real leader and Paudie isn't?

 

Because Spearing has done it, he's got a team promoted out of this league Paudie hasn't (This isn't my view btw, this is just what I expect him to come back with)

 

All the players at Ajax are near enough in the same age group and came through the ranks together.

He won't be captain if he joins Barca or PSG.

Gary Jones never achieved promotion with Rochdale. Does that mean he's not a leader? Please explain why we gave him the armband?

Not because of freaking promotions, not because of any fancy awards. It was because he had a mentality to go into each and every game to give it his all & to try ensure his side got three points.

in fact, how many of the 12/13 squad had promotions on their cv's? exactly.

Gary Jones had about 200 games under his belt before joining us and was captain at Rochdale.

Him and Darby were perfect captains. Experienced professionals before they joined.

We won about 2 games as P.O'Connor as captain and he was captain by default.

We need more leaders that's what I saying.

I would rather Donaldson be captain at this stage but I am hoping for better in midfield and if Spearing is available then he is the perfect captain for us next season.

I get your point but to try and insuinate we lost because Paudie was captain is a step too far there!!

 

Worrying about THE captain is daft. We need a team with several leaders.

Yes we had Jones. We also had Darby Davies, McArdle, Hanson. Any of them could've had the armband and at different times, they did.

Young Paudie has steel. We've needed more of that for a while. 80% of a captains job is off the pitch anyway and none of us really know at this point who'll be best for for what Bowyer wants. Who ever he chooses will be up to the task, I'm sure.

No that wasn't my point. My point is last season squad lacked leaders.

The captain for most of the season was A.O'Connor and we know what happened to the armband.

I would rather a more experienced player as captain. Div 2 is a dog league and for me experienced is required to lead us out of it.

It lacked talent and effort more than it lacked a leader.

 

A true leader gets the team to raise the effort levels or leads by example.

 

It was claimed it would be 2 weeks nearly 2 years ago. Your guess is as good as mine!

 

Yes, if you have a team that is willing to do that with a leader or even a manager that they respected. We had neither
