I hope that's the case. Loans are completely pointless in this day and age for me, unless the loanee is coming in as a squad filler.

 

I agree. Or, unless it’s a premium player that will make a key difference to your side in the short term.

I could see him coming permanently. Or joining another L1/2 side. He’s not getting in the Leeds side anytime soon - he needs a couple of years of regular football and then he might be championship ready.

Paudie O'Connor is quoted as saying he's like to stay and play for us next season, GB see's him as a useful addition to our club. I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see him join us on a six month loan deal, with an option to extend in January.

Personally I'd welcome him back, the way he had Marquis in his pocket illustrated he's fledging into a fine centre half.

 

I'm not in favour of 6 month loans. Look at the disruption caused last January (as if we didn't have enough problems anyway). Do your homework and sign them for 12 months with no recall clause.

 

You can’t do that with youth loans.

If it's a loan, I think I'd rather have a player we know can do a decent job for us in League 2 for 6 months, than an unknown for 12 months who could turn out to be worse than NKP.
Also, even with a 12 month loan there are no guarantees - if a player does well and their parent club receive an offer that they feel is acceptable, chances are they will get sold.

 

Like it or not loans are a necessity for lower league teams
