For me, McCartan gets a clean slate. If hes here, let's see what he can do. Hes filling the role of 4th choice striker and hes shown he can do that capably at this level. I'd far rather have him on the bench than Patrick or Bruenker.

 

I can't remember which away game it was last season, but I do remember seing McCartan playing well that day (in L1). He also featured regularly (sometimes from the bench) for Lincoln last season.
So on the basis of the above he's streets ahead of Doyle as a no 10/deep striker/tip of the diamond, if Bowyer persists with the current formation.
That's not to say I wouldn't prefer a better player being brought in, or a change of formation but, as things stand, McCartan is a no-brainer for the current system.

We wouldn’t and shouldn’t need to cast an eye over him, sign him up he’d be the best LB at this level by absolute miles. If it wasn’t for his off the field issues he’d still be a regular in the championship this season.

Just have a look at the Blackpool programme and see who their players previous clubs were. You know the team that took us to the cleaners the other week. The team that GB predominantly put together. A fair few of them were from non league backgrounds. Maybe, just maybe, they are/were prepared to fight for every ball/make every tackle as they wanted to prove to their manager, their fans and the world in general that they could play and could win football matches. Don't recall seeing that too often by players wearing claret and amber this season.

 

Got to start building something at Valley Parade, theres enough players out there available to build a competitve squad, the loans should add the icing on the cake like Josh Cullen or Reece Burke.

 

I'm a bit alarmed by the suggestions that we will be forced to fish in a s*** pool.I still remain optimistic with the right direction from GB, proper management and reasonable injection from Rupp, that we will make a serious challenge for promotion this coming season. Rupp promised to put things right and even with his business head on, he must see the need to speculate to prevent further loses on his investment and attempt to secure stability and financial parity through success. At this stage, as a life long fan how does it pay to be less than trustful and optimistic?

Jim O’Brien signed for County I’m January. They had another 19 league games to play and he started 18 times for them (and only didn’t feature for 8mins in all those games). The only reason he missed the one game he did, was down to his 5th yellow card of the season.

Personally, I think he’d do a job for us in L2 and is certainly a better bet than Devine, Anderson, Akpan and/or Wright.

 

Hope this new scout knows we can only try resign former players.
