This is the Transfer Rumours thread. The clue is in the title. Several posters have rightly commented on the way this thread has gone way off-topic.

Let's use the thread for debating transfer rumours and if you wish to debate other things, I bet you could find an existing thread where to do that. Failing that, if there isn't an existing thread on the subject you wish to debate, feel free to start a new thread for your new topic. In particular, if you wish to discuss the merits or otherwise of Gary Bowyer, there are already several other threads covering the same subject matter. Thanks

Any further posts on here unrelated to transfer rumours will be deleted without exception and the poster restricted from posting further in this thread.

Oh come on, O’Donnell started the season well. To say he has been as bad as Wright is way off the mark.

Got to say, I think Shay could be decent for us this season and some of the comments about him from posters on here have been uncalled for.

He featured in the majority of games for the team which won this league last season and contributed a decent number of goals and assists. If he hadn't played for us already I think people would be happy with us signing him, at least as a squad player.

He was also nowhere near as bad as people make out, in fact when he was in the team people were calling for him to be played more. He was definitely showing glimpses of a decent player under McCall, it went downhill a bit after that but so did literally every other player.

Would be happy for him to stay

    No suprise there then.

So far since Rahic got rumbled and cost us our league one status I don't think as fans the club have done too bad. in fact IMO Rupp has honoured all he said he would, and maybe more to come.
Bowyer has brought 3 players in who a couple of months ago no one would have given us a price of signing, you have been one of the clubs biggest critic's and because there is little to criticise ths club for you make a big deal of the Coville situation, be positive for once in your life.

If only we had Law instead of Doyle at the tip of the diamond. A man with excellent close control, time on the ball, vision, and a range of passing that Doyle could only dream of. Vaughan and Donaldson would score hatfuls.
Such a shame that Stuart played him out of position, wide left, most of the time. On the few occasions he played in attacking central midfield he bossed games in L1 and would easily do so in L2

Doyle needs to be used how every other club throughout his career has used him, and he generally scores goals. he's not suddenly got no ability - we just aren't making anything of his ability by playing him in roles he is ill suited.

You must have good knowledge of non league football in Suffolk to know that he is not good enough.

Whats this mythical top three squad stuff? There's no such thing. Last season we had comments from opposition chairman and managers stating that Bradford's squad was too good to go down yet they didn't watch them every week. Names on paper mean absolutely nothing without a clear and precise strategy and structure behind it. If you finish in the top three then that season you have a top three squad for that season.

Dont get all this O'Donnell bashing. I'm sure if you look back at some of the comments in the early part of the season, most were complimentary and he was seen as a more than adequate replacement for Doyle. The final 3rd of the season wasnt the best for him and I'm not saying I'd be disappointed if he left, but he wasnt the weakest link at the back surely

Garbage. One scored important goals during his time with us and gave his all for the shirt. Yes was limited but played a role in many important games and was part of a side that progressed up the league.

The other undoubtably with better pedigree didn’t give a shit last season. Didn’t put himself on the line for the club. Could have delivered far more.

Hanson is not the answer moving forwards.
But to say he isn’t fit to laces Doyle’s boots is laughable.

They could not be more different.

Vaughan's best work is all over the pitch.

Did you notice he dropped to a deep number ten role yesterday? And was our best defender at set pieces? All things Doyle can't do, and he's misused if we ask him to?

No, sir, Doyle is a goal hanger who can't play football. We would have to, in theory, allow him to goal hang.

    Totally different.

I'll be very much in the minority here, but I wouldn't have a problem if Billy Clarke signed. He hasn't pulled up any trees this time round, but I think that's at least in part down to having come back from a long term injury and playing in such a poor side. In League 2 I think he could do well - he also knows the club and buys into our 'identity'. We need some of that in the dressing room. However, he'd have to be considered a squad player - we'd very much need at least 2 further strikers of genuine quality and with more pace, power and goal threat.

I also have a sneaking feeling that Bowyer might try to sign Callum Woods, if he thinks his fitness issues can be addressed. Possibly on a pay as you play type of deal.

Christ. It's like Groundhog day! A manager saying how shocked he is at what player agents are quoting, that we'll have to be prudent and bigging up other clubs who'll be much more competitive than us! Fylde!!!! FFS....Fylde would be more competitive than us?! Amazing considering Rupp and Ruin were the men to take is to the next level financially. To fund a Championship level club. Im for one am sick of hearing it.

If Mr Rupp doesn't get his hand in his pocket, this club will be worse less than nothing next year! An alleged €130m+ worth will surely make our chairmen one of the richest in league. Bloody use some of it to rectify that dick heads mistakes or sell the club to someone who will spend!

If we cant even keep Andy Todd on as a coach of which Bowyer is clearly gutted about, then that's a bloody poor poor start!!!

I don’t get the obsession with Colin Doyle. He was distinctly average and was fortunate to have a decent back four in front of him.
