If we are still struggling and in the lower half of the division it would make sense to bring back all the loans we can and bunker down to face the second part of the season with all our resources helping us not others

I agree, we have to make full use of all our resources.

 

Alternatively if we don’t think they are good enough keep them out on loan with someone paying their wages and use the resource to get in better. What’s the point in getting them back if they don’t improve the team. You are wasting money. Would only make sense if the loanee club aren’t contributing to their wages.

 

What is the update on potential new signings? It’s been a couple of weeks since Hopkin said he would be bringing in a couple more free agents to trial out. Has anyone arrived? Has anyone been down and noticed any new additions training with us ?

 

No one training today apart from the young kids on the 4G pitch, I thought they migt have been doing a few set pieces and maybe a bit of light training.

 

Probably no one decent left now to be fair. Or worth looking at

 

In no way am I trying to be pedantic but the article in the T&A was from the 20th September, so I imagine they're still looking at some given it was only a few days ago.

 

I understand a couple have been in, 'on trial' - but only one session, it seems........ In DHWT ?

 

Possibly decent enough - just too far from fit enough. ? Our gaping holes need filling NOW, not in November !

 

The article may have been published recently, but he stated it in his post-match interview, when Jim O’Brien made his debut.

Hence why I asked if anyone had joined us for a trial yet

 

Was told DH is definitely still looking but its now a case of who is out there, can they improve what we have and their state of fitness - gather there is one in particular he might try to sort a deal on but unlikely before the weekend

 

Personally think it is unlikely now that we will see any transfer activity until January. I think DH will work with what he has got now, including returning injured players. We are at the stage where any out of contract players will be far from match fit, as we approach 6 months since the end of last season

 

The need to bring anyone in as injured players start to come back is less likely and although we could do with a big striker,again,it's unlikely we would find anyone good enough now.

I think we will gradually improve and January window will be crucial,more to secure our status this season than any play off hopes as I think we'll be well off the pace by then.

 

Playing 4-4-2 would be like adding another player to the squad and also create much needed competition at the back as only 2 of the 3 CBs can play those positions

 

Said very much the same @Old city man if Hopkin can get us midtable with a few players to build around during the closed season I'll take that now, I'm far from happy but from where we are now that has to be progress.

 

That's pretty much the picture, trevor.
DH has persevered with his tried and tested back 3 - But I think, or rather hope he's realised that they play like strangers.Over a month of training and game time should rectify that, but it hasn't. Yes I know injuries play a part - But aren't his ethics employed throughout the whole squad, not just the first team ? Our defence appears to lack so much ability, I am not expecting a clean sheet anytime soon.
If that's the case, then concentrate too on creating and scoring at the other end ............. Edin then gets his wish of City Wining 5 - 4 every week !

 

I'm pretty sure we have the "4" sorted Ronnie.

Now, if we can just start having a go at a plan for the other "5", happy days!
