Those believing that we do not need to recruit because of our upturn in form are blinkered and to complacent because the teams around us will be recruiting signing players to improve their chances of avoiding the drop and may well stay up at our expense because we have not brought a few quality players to ensure we are out of it.

 

I never said we don't need new recruits because of our upturn in form but the players hopkin was after 4/5 weeks ago those type of players he wanted then to now seem to have changed.

 

Last season Northampton signed around 7 players in January and still went down.

It’s not worth chucking players at it at this stage of the season. We are limited due to loans and the amount we can pick and looks as though we will have a minimal budget to spend.

We’ve signed one already with 21 days to go of the window. Where’s the panic?

 

There was a greater need. However contracted players, McGowan, NKP, Akpan, Mellor, Doyle have started to prove themselves as capable. Therefore that need diminishes a bit. Therefore its just a case of seeing what happens with the loan players and getting some cover in at the back (already done), McGowan and maybe an extra striker/winger (Surridge). If Ball and O'Brien and Miller stay and we get an'other striker/midefielder I think we will think that's enough and job achieved for this window. Not overly exciting. i think we may offer new contracts to a few players as well.

The upturn in form doesn't disguise the fact NKP and Chickson are still shite. I would like an upgrade on both.

You’re not comparing like for like though. Yes, players are being valued too highly and the examples you have given prices that point. As such, with those transfer fees involved, I’d expect their agents to be fighting for big wages.

But what Jon is saying is that this is a lad that has not been beating back suitors and Forest don’t rate him so highly that they tied him down to a ridiculously long contract or out a multi-million price tag on his head (such as the examples you have given). So why would Forest have ever agreed to awarding him some over the top deal?

 

The one about wright might have some legs he was in London over the weekend speaking to a club about a potential move wages being a stumbling block though I am told.

 

NKP has been performing extremely well recently, in fact he's probably been our best defender. Can't believe how much difference a bit of running can do
