Though I believe Payne will leave, the line in today's T&A reads like an assumption to me, based on nothing.

It's like it's there because we expect it to happen without anything concrete on it .

 

I agree. I also assume that Julian and David have been having talks about Jack with Huddersfield, in fact I would be astonished if we haven’t.

 

Yep. Though I'm sure Huddersfield will take the cash if a good offer does come in, they don't seem desperate to sell and seem pretty relaxed about the whole thing.

I think we're potentially in danger of overplaying the whole situation because of how key he has become to City. Ultimately, he's still a L1 player who most teams won't be able to afford.

As I said before I still think he will leave, but I'm less confident of him leaving than I was a week ago.

 

I think Huddersfield are relaxed about this. They are not desperate to sell him, and I think Jack will have more say on this than we think. He is happy here, but obviously if a good contract came in both he and Udders would consider it. So they would need to match his current pay plus more probably. He may also want to stay until the summer then consider his options. If he goes, we will all be dissapointed but I am sure we will cope, but fingers crossed.

 

I can't see many/any League One teams offering to buy him in January. The outlay is massive, I can see a Championship club offering the money, however a League One team will want him on loan offering a small fee and larger % of his wages than what we're paying him.

 

One of the reasons we got Payne in the first place was the friendship of Collins with the town chairman similar with L Obrien. Obviously we no longer have that connection

 

Huddersfield might be thinking of leaving Payne exactly where he is because he's a major part of the development of O'Brian. They will have seen how much he's come on here and what part Payne has played in this ,therefore they could leave him here to further develop their talented future star and activate Payne's 1 year extension , or cash in Payne now for the reported 500 grand risking O'Brian's development. They can still get a decent fee for Payne in the summer so I think they will keep him here to watch their partnership blossom even more.

 

Seems like Parker is trying to soften the blow of Payne leaving in the T&A today.

 

I have heard we are in for Gregg Wylde, contract at Plymouth just been cancelled.

 

More clubs than Jack Nicklaus, Seems he cannot settle or just not good enough for the clubs he has played for

 

He's like their Alex Jones or Josh Wright, why would we?
