Oh so you have a breakdown of the 2m debt then? Please show us all it.

Why do we need to borrow money? Thought our owner has money??

You making out like a football club is a normal business.

If you want to run it as a profit making business then we will get no where fast!!

I certainly wish some of our signings had been lucky lucky. But instead, as mentioned, things are starting to drop off. Some after just 2 weeks of being signed last month - so its not just Rahic buying off boat people.

Chucking money at something never works

Having the right people recruiting players etc is always a better formula within a budget. Whether that be multi millions or an average budget

There are certainly no guarantees. You only have to ask the owners of Scunny about that who still haven't been promoted or how it took Sheff U's owners 5 years of making good their losses before they achieved success.

But over the last 5 seasons, of the 15 clubs who have been promoted from League 1 to the Championship, 12 had their losses covered one way or another by their owners, sometimes over several years. Two of the remainder had been helped over many years previously by their owners eg by investing in their own successful academy or investing in potential talent, and now have the resources to do it without dipping too often into the owners' pockets. And one did it, well, I don't know how! And I don't see any of that changing in the near future.

The notion that we could get into the Championship without real investment from the owners or by coming into an unexpected windfall is fanciful .. unless Lady Luck is smiling at us! Lower league football has changed dramatically in recent years but there are many sugar mummies and daddies who are willing to do for their club what our recent and current owners couldn't or wouldn't do for ours. Lawn and Rhodes understood this perfectly well and knew they didn't have the cash to deliver it. And the rest is history.

I agree entirely. However you may have the best driver and the best team of mechanics but you won't win formulae one in Ford Metro. The same way my mum wouldn't win the championship driving a McClaren. However I expect an average forumla one driver could win driving the best car, but not vice versa. However there are the odd occasions where the other teams cars crash or break down (Leicester) I think that analogy works

Yes, as @Dennis@Dennis explained it's the only real way of getting out of this league.

However, the owner needs to be able to cover it.

If 2m is a problem then we stand no chance but this we must be debt free is a load of bollocks.

Agreed the signings under Hopkin haven't been ideal, but we have to remember, the vast majority of players who were available when Rahic was assembling the squad aren't available in or leading up to January.

The pool of players is far, far, far smaller.

We can never judge Summer and January windows the same - most players are under contract by January.

No I didn't say 'Chuck money at it and hope for the best'. Nothing could be further from the truth. You might as well just flush the money down the drain if that's the approach!

Promotion to the Championship certainly requires money, and significant amounts of it. But it also requires that money to be spent wisely on good players by a manager who knows what he is doing in the transfer market and knows how to get the best out of his squad on matchdays. Oh yes, and a manager who is given full responsibility for this without interference from elsewhere. Anything less will guarantee failure!

Too many use the Jan transfer window as an excuse for failure.

When Hopkin came in he said he wants deals done before the window and that didn't happen.

Players can be found in Jan and brought eg Ball.

We decided to spend a lot on Payne then waste money on Clarke. Plus wages on Anderson and O'Connor.

We would of been better signing Ball then splashing out on pointless back up players.

Of course a bigger pool of players available in the summer but we messed up in the Jan transfer window make no mistake about it.

    I agree.

It takes a good blend but ultimately everyone has to buy into it and trust each other. Manager and board

I don’t need to read it again once was bad enough like with 99% of your posts. If you’re wondering why we got Clarke and Anderson it’s because they’re cheap and couldn’t afford anything else. Why is that? Oh yes because we have garbage like the two you mentioned and defend for some reason, on ridiculous wages who aren’t good enough for this level. Who’s faults that I hear you ask? The idiot who bought them, just checked and it wasn’t Hopkin. Edin Rahic killed the club, if you want to know why we are scratching around for rubbish that’s why, he’s made us rubbish.

    Get over Edin Rahic.

Didn't here you moan about him when @Ricc@Ricc was stating Edin would ruin our club.

Parky left straight away, McCall was moaning, owners on the pitch promising the earth, Wembley team break up, signing rubbish with Abbott, Mason leaving, sacking of McCall, hiring of Grayson, hiring of Collins,

The warning signs were there and you didn't do anything but live off your cheap ar&e season ticket.

Yes, Edin damaged our club but he isn't to blame for Hopkin playing dire long ball, seeming clueless and buying utter shi&e in the Jan window.

Did more than you all you do is lie on here, considering you never actually comment on games and just moan and comment about Jason Thornton I’d be shocked if you actually go at all.

Afraid he is Fordy. Once the vast, vast majority of the budget has been spent on a pss poor squad and there's very little left in the pot you are in serious trouble. Once you are stuck in the bottom 4 with only a few pennies to rub together the January transfer window is always going to be crap. It always is. Beggars can't be choosers.
