I thought that Rahic had a business plan, in which players got 50% salary and 50% in bonuses, based on a German model. If that was the case, then surely Wright and Riley (and indeed Reeves) are on far lower amounts per week, than has been suggested on here.

This web page suggests, ‘The average salary in League One is between £1,700 and £2,500’.https://www.onaverage.co.uk/money-averages/average-premier-league-salary

However this source suggests a specific amount per week for Bradford City @ Bradford City £1,625 per week although a couple of years out of date! https://www.footy.com/footballers-vs-the-fans/#you-vs-your-club

So lets say they are on a higher potential income of £3,000 per week, if 50% is bonuses then they are drawing about £1,500 a week, as they will not be getting any bonuses.

If they're on 50% bonus or whatever, it must make it an incredibly easy call not to play them ever again.

    Still a rumour though.

I asked this on another thread and was told that in Rahic’s first couple of seasons that was his business plan/model. However, I was told that he threw that out of the window last summer when he took Rupp’s credit card and racked up his debt.

I think it was mentioned in the Stefan I cannot release this free DVD Matter of the Heart, until l have personally signed them all!

Also, ‘... the much-discussed wage model. City are apparently using a wage model that is similar to the one used in Germany, where 50% of a player’s wage is paid up front, and 50% in bonuses’. https://widthofapost.com/2018/02/01/what-now-for-bradford-citys-recruitment-strategy/

There is mention on this source as well, “Bradford City owner: German players get 50% of wages in bonuses – English want 90% up front’. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/bradford-city-owner-german-players-get-50-of-wages-in-bonuses-english-want-90-up-front-q5bmc8wx9

I don’t claim to know a lot about how football clubs should/should not be run, but these figures being branded about don’t scare me in the slightest.

Quotes of debt and operating within the red are completely normal in modern day football. Bristol City, for example in 2014, were in debt by almost £35m. It was never a concern for them as their owner is a billionaire. Lucky for them.

Now where’s the relevance I hear you ask?

Well, although operating in the red isn’t sustainable long term for any business, what we do know is, Rupp is likely to write the debt off and start afresh next season - why wouldn’t he! We also know that the sole culprit for running up the debt has now left the building. I think some fans are still comparing the current ownership to the previous custodians - but fail to take into account that the previous custodians were operating within the club revenue and the club revenue alone (barring Lawn’s lucrative loan offer (not) - and our current owner actually does have money to get us out of most sticky financial situation.

Truth is, although Rupp isn’t made of money, we do know that he is prepared to put money into the club - this has been proven. So, talk of trouble ahead and having no cash is absolute bollocks (we’re paying £10k per week for a player that isn’t even our’s, for Christ’s sake).

Some of you need to calm down - we’ve been in far, far worse situations!

Aren’t salary and bonus two different things. Your salary is your guaranteed income. The figures being thrown about regarding players always seem to be salary so that would be their basic with their bonuses on top

He will probably write off this seasons debts but I fully expect next season will be run on the lines of the Lawn and Rhodes era.
So much will depend on how many season tickets we sell and possibly any windfalls it will be back to the deficit many on here ridiculed.
So it is going to take some good management comparable to the Parkinson era if we are to thrive

I take your point, but he also bought the club to progress and take us forward. I fully expect him to put his hand in his pocket as opposed to cutting his cloth accordingly - but I guess only time will tell.

Will Ball be trying to get a payoff from Rotherham?

I hope you are right, but I am not convinced yet.

He could have invested from day one in the playing staff, but didn't. He was convinced to underwrite Edin Rahic's fantasy football dream, with disastrous results for the club. He didn't appreciate what ER was actually doing and when he did, he acted. He has had to pump money into the club this season to keep it going.

We've got ERs legacy of decreasing income, increased expenditure on the playing staff and an overall reduction in the quality of the squad.

I don't believe Mr Rupp will abandon us, but I doubt his desire is to continue to pump a million plus into the club every season. It is a concern.

Well I don’t think we will know what plans Stefan has forvthe club until we know what league we are going to be in. Plus he will also need to know how many supporters are prepared to buy a season ticket this next season. Then are we able to attract sponsors.

In fairness, they didn't get bonuses under Edin either. he didn't bother paying them.

A few 'negatives' in all three of those, Mrs O - But collectively, it could become a nightmare, for which recovery would not be instant ........... Not without a 'Suggardaddy' (Or Mummy !!), anyway.
But before I'm cast as a doom monger - Let's just do our best for now, and see where we land, and all the hurdles that position brings.

Wasn't the problem that Edin tried to introduce a new wage structure the other year, with a higher proportion paid as bonuses, but players went elsewhere (why wouldn't you), so this season he just went crazy and offered silly wages to everyone and offered higher basic?

Its a shame he didn't give McCall the same budget he gave himself when signing players before Collins was appointed.

Agree. That is what happens when an ill thought out plan doesn’t work and it is not in your nature to as for help, as you haven’t a clue what to do. You panic! A simple plea, I need help I have got this wrong, what can we do. The person who would have helped him he kicked out of the door.
