I don’t dispute the fact that we may/may not be in £2m of debt. That wasn’t my point. But the poster claimed the club had confirmed it in the T&A and that wasn’t the case

Championship??? Bugger that. We're better than that. PL all the way! No settling for second best.

p.s. When are you selling that car and getting a proper one?

Championship will do for me. I actually prefer watching it to the PL, which tends to bore me.

    £40000.00 pounds a week.
    Let that sink in people
    Scary stuff
    I'd say we're very much a basket case currently:eek2::eek2::eek2:

Good news about Hopkin looking to sign Ball on a permanent, I'd totally missed this story.

He would be an excellent addition, and probably the first long-term signing since Hopkin took over.

If Hopkin can sign more players like this in the Summer, I won't lose any sleep about the plethora of six-month contracts and loans we seem to need in order just to stay up!

Not sure that it is all football related or the current amount we are losing weekly, I suspect a lot of the £2million quoted in the press is for non football losses or one off payments that have now been resolved, It will take another two years to bring the club out of the mess that Edin plunged it in to, Rhodes and Stefan are working hard to put the club in a sustainable position but it will take time

I've seen various numbers quoted here in different quarters for how much the current deficit is. £2 million here, £1.5 million there and somebody who claims to 'really know' that the figure is nearly £4 million! There has even been talk of the club going into 'imminent administration' despite the fact that it is Rupp and only Rupp who could put the club into administration. But let's not get the facts in the way of some good speculation. And despite all of the words and speculation and recent talk from several quarters, there is no evidence, I repeat no evidence, that Rupp or anybody else has injected any significant capital into the club to cover such a large deficit or loss.

Why if Rupp really has injected capital into the club on this magnitude, there is nothing at Companies House (or the German equivalent) which can confirm this?

Ok. Lots of people complaining about the finances and the chairmen not spending. Let’s put season tickets up to 250/300 then?

Not necessarily. We may have racked up nearly £2m in debt, but what is this made up of? Pitch, transfer fees, or just salaries?

If we are haemorrhaging £40k a week, what on? Just player salaries and bonuses? And if so, that means our player budget must be over £4m this season. But didn’t most ITK people claim we were paying peanuts with high incentives?

It wouldn’t make a jot of difference to the finances though. We have a core fan base of between 9-10k and they would probably pay £250 for their ticket. But you’d lose the floaters as they wouldn’t be happy to spend that kind of money for 3rd division football. That’s the reality.

And don’t forget, the fuller the ground, the more money the club make in sponsorship and franchise deals. So putting prices up would cost more in the bigger picture.

People need to realise that we are a poorly supported club for the size of the city and surrounding areas. Always have been / always will be

I'm not an accountant (are there any watching City?) but the £2m lossisn't necessarily ALL operating loss- some of it will be historical, some of it might be Rahic's pay-off, some will be the cost of the new pitch. I don't think you can extrapolate £2M loss as indicating £40k per week loss.

Well, the phrase 'poorly supported' is pretty relative - gates between 12 and 18 thousand in the third tier would be beyond the wildest dreams of many clubs - or by 'poorly supported' did you mean a high proportion of moaning gets?

I agree entirely! Therefore we may reluctantly have to accept that we can’t milk much more revenue therefore unless we get a rich benefactor we are not far off our ceiling

No, I mean poorly supported for the size of the City and surrounding areas (did I not make that clear)! You refer to the 12k-18k gates, but what would it be if we charged the going rate for L1 football? Charge our fans the same as most other L1 clubs and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it below 5-figures.

Orient who were interested in wright before maybe offering him a loan deal but want us to pay 75% of his wages from what I hear city want a 50/50 spilt. Also Wrexham are looking to bring a full back in wonder if Riley is a target?.

We should negotiate on Wright. He’s clearly not in Hopkin’s plans, so any “saving” is a bonus, surely? If not, we get left with a player that isn’t going to play and the full 100% of his wages.

As for Riley, here’s hoping he can secure a loan deal to his current level

I just think it’s bonkers. I get that we may not want to let him go to a rival ‘on the cheap’, but lower league?

I have no idea how much he’s earning, but let’s say it’s £3k a week. Up until the end of May (and any potential play-offs), it’s around 17wks left now. That means we will be lumbered with £51k. If a team offers 25-35% that saves us between £12,750 - £17,850. Not a massive amount, but it’s a saving all the same and also puts him in the shop window for next season.

Why wouldn’t we look to do business on that basis? Makes no sense
