Our bench on New Years Day was: Wilson, Wood, Isherwood, Devine, Goldthorp, Maltby & Brunker.
The bench for tomorrow's match could look something like: Wilson, Chicksen, Wood, Devine, Anderson, Clarke, Miller.
I think that shows that we are in better shape.rmbenson007, simons (woking bantam), RonnieBrown and 6 others like this. -

I don’t claim to know a lot about how football clubs should/should not be run, but these figures being branded about don’t scare me in the slightest.
Quotes of debt and operating within the red are completely normal in modern day football. Bristol City, for example in 2014, were in debt by almost £35m. It was never a concern for them as their owner is a billionaire. Lucky for them.
Now where’s the relevance I hear you ask?
Well, although operating in the red isn’t sustainable long term for any business, what we do know is, Rupp is likely to write the debt off and start afresh next season - why wouldn’t he! We also know that the sole culprit for running up the debt has now left the building. I think some fans are still comparing the current ownership to the previous custodians - but fail to take into account that the previous custodians were operating within the club revenue and the club revenue alone (barring Lawn’s lucrative loan offer (not) - and our current owner actually does have money to get us out of most sticky financial situation.
Truth is, although Rupp isn’t made of money, we do know that he is prepared to put money into the club - this has been proven. So, talk of trouble ahead and having no cash is absolute bollocks (we’re paying £10k per week for a player that isn’t even our’s, for Christ’s sake).
Some of you need to calm down - we’ve been in far, far worse situations!bcfc2015, BoingBoing, Jam and 6 others like this. -
I know Edin was a charleton but a businesman like Stefan should have been weary of the situation after Wembley, why he felt Edin needed to get rid of the very man who took us to Wembley in his first season managing the club. -

Hopkin killing the club by not playing Wright and Riley, just about the biggest load of nonsense I’ve heard on here and that’s some achievement.

But over the last 5 seasons, of the 15 clubs who have been promoted from League 1 to the Championship, 12 had their losses covered one way or another by their owners, sometimes over several years. Two of the remainder had been helped over many years previously by their owners eg by investing in their own successful academy or investing in potential talent, and now have the resources to do it without dipping too often into the owners' pockets. And one did it, well, I don't know how! And I don't see any of that changing in the near future.
The notion that we could get into the Championship without real investment from the owners or by coming into an unexpected windfall is fanciful .. unless Lady Luck is smiling at us! Lower league football has changed dramatically in recent years but there are many sugar mummies and daddies who are willing to do for their club what our recent and current owners couldn't or wouldn't do for ours. Lawn and Rhodes understood this perfectly well and knew they didn't have the cash to deliver it. And the rest is history.Silverbantam, Grove house bantam, Briggus and 6 others like this. -
We're well stocked with midfielders but most aren't up to it.
Devine - not good enough
Wright - definitely not good enough
Akpan - built like a tank. Plays like one
Colville- promising but raw
Henry - can't run
Reeves - someone check for a pulse
JoB - looked ok against the backdrop of what he replaced but isn't exactly top quality
LOB - been excellent.
We're going to need play off form to get out of this mess. So we need play off standard midfield. What we have is miles behind a midfield of Cullen and Vincelot.Stop hovering to collapse... Anybody that doesn’t think that a strapping big lad up front isn’t the absolute priority in the transfer window knows football about as much as Edin Rahic

There is no point risking getting another loan in to replace him when they could be a flop an we have a lad with proven ability and hunger.
Let’s get Ball onboard perm because he can do it for us next season too. He’s only 28 i think. Perfect agePineapple Salesman, Bronco, Chad and 5 others like this. -
What's the big rush to get players in? We don't have a game on the 5th so after the Accrington match (where we can't get any players in for because of the Transfer Window) we have nearly 2 weeks before the next game. No point signing players for the sake of it.

I don't have a problem with the article this morning - in fact, its the opposite. I welcome the approach.
Maybe its just a reflection of the trust that's being rebuilt.... but i DO trust the club now. Hopkin's being allowed to call the shots, he's focusing on getting the right people in, rather than just acting quickly. We've created that opportunity for ourselves - we still need to strengthen, but our recent form is such that the element of desperation has been removed. We can take a little bit of time to get it right. Manage the club according to the principle's that matter. Hopkin believes that the type of character we need is as important as ability - and you can't argue with that. Look at the likes of Wright being an example of what happens when you get it wrong, and the likes of O'Brien and Caddis as being the template for what's needed.
I also like the idea of prioritising loans for players out of contract in the summer. It lends itself to a longer term view of the world. Planning properly, like well run clubs should.
