In your fevered, McCarthyite imagination. But nowhere else.

The SWP are a tiny, insignificant, rent-a-mob, who show up at every public event or demo with their placards and their ludicrous revolutionary nonsense. At one point they had the massive sum of 2000 members nationwide. The number is almost certainly even lower now. They give the impression of being much bigger than they actually are because they are mostly obsessives who dedicate their entire lives to the party and to hijacking other people's causes.
They are despised by most people in the Labour Party.

Wages have to increase in line with inflation at least otherwise people are effectively taking a wage cut.

Mick Lynch is wiping the floor with the transport minister and Tories in the media, Expect a mud slinging campaign by the Tories soon to attack him,

Over the last ten years of Tory rule the difference between workers wages and company profits has never been higher, Shareholders have never had it so good and ordinary workers so bad,

And that is why I’m not voting at all anymore. Politics in this country is totally in the bin. Don’t even get me started with trains and strikes, never known a bunch of over paid, under worked bunch of whiners who work for a system that doesn’t work at all and hardly makes any money (post covid) yet they think they’re hard done by with an 8% pay rise and no redundancies. They’re on a different planet and totally deserve to have egg on their face when we get fully automated trains which can’t come soon enough. Like yesterday when I get a call from my missus at 430pm “can you come get me from Forster square all trains are cancelled due to lack of staff”. USELESS!!!!!

They should use the same index they use for putting up ticket prices for putting up wages each year.

Theres nothing wrong with hard work but in the right context. My Dad, god rest him, set up his own business, worked pretty much on his own 6/7 days a week, sometimes upto 16 hours a day to put a roof over his head and food on the table. My dad was from a generation of working class people who knew nothing but hard work, it was the only option when you left education. Either mill work or the armed forces. But there was always that incentive if you grafted and put the hours in you were rewarded for your efforts. My dad was from a different generation, i can say i never once heard him moan about his lot in life, he accepted the cards life had dealt him and knew hard work was the only way to a better standard of life.

See, this is where i look at todays society and see a sense of unearned entitlement amongst this generation (not all before the faux outrage comes in). Theres more opportunity now than ever, more facitiies to help you succeed. But, first and foremost, you need hard work.

The infrastructure in the North of England is virtually non existent. A densely populated area of two major cities like Leeds and Bradford and it takes you well over an hour to get anywhere on the roads. The trains are just an afterthought for Bradford, the poor old girl left behind as the rest of the world moves on.

No wonder you're so permanently paranoid about reds under the beds, if you can't tell the difference between the mainstream centre left Labour Party and the deluded far left nutters in the Socialist Workers Party.

It's strange that those who were in total anger as MPs getting a 2.7% payrise, think a 3% payrise is far too little.

I suppose if MPs took strike action no one would notice the difference.

Those striking are quickly forgetting the taxpayer who bared the brunt of the cost to keep the train companies from going bust with subsidies are furlough. All of them were paid when the country was shut down.

First time I've seen this Mick Lynch. Holds himself well against politicians and TV presenters talking absolute garbage. Makes very good points about the NHS and education system being privatised and it's nice to see someone have the balls to stand up to this. I wish we had a political party with the bollocks to stand up to what is happening in this country, I don't think I've seen such a corrupt, mismanaged not fit for purpose shitshow in my life.

Madeley's an absolute clown, asking Lynch whether or not he was a marxist when I'm fairly willing to wager madeley doesn't even know what the term means himself.

You say that like nobody works hard and just sits on their arse all day doing nothing. If that was true the country would have collapsed a lot sooner. What I want is a fair days' work for a fair days' pay and dignity in work. How deluded do you have to be to think that is the politics of envy.

One of the causes of inflation is the continued printing of money, £Billions has been printed and given to the banks and others that has flooded through the economy.

Almost exactly what i've been saying whilst plenty will struggle then plenty won't, more of a disruption than a 'crisis' ,over a million job vacancies, government should reduce taxes rather than increase wages....

I can't believe folk can't see the bigger picture and not fall for the media trick of allowing the well worn 'train drivers earn over £60,000' to be aired over and again at strategic times of the day when the most impressionable folk will be watching. Divide and conquer still alive and well it seems.

This is the down side of the private sector becoming almost totally non-unionised. You are at the mercy of your employer, with virtually no leverage to do anything about it. Meanwhile, company directors have been awarding themselves bigger and bigger salary increases for the last decade, even as the economy falters and ordinary people like you see their standard of living go down the toilet. And the Tories want to make it even harder for ordinary workers to act together to protect themselves. Madness.
BTW, most public sector workers haven't had a decent pay increase since the Tories came to power in 2010. Some have gone several years running with no increase whatsoever.

Ah, the good old Tory 'incentive' cliché. It's a ridiculous fallacy.

Firstly, it's impossible for everyone, or even most people, to reach the top of the pile, because there are only a few places there. So, no matter how much incentive there is, hard work cannot get most people to the top.

Secondly, those who start with massive advantages over others - inherited wealth, public school education, the right contacts etc, form the vast majority of those at the top of the pile. And they make sure that their kids, grandchildren etc have the same huge head start so the riff raff don't supplant them. The few oiks from the bottom who make it to the top stand out as the exceptions that prove the rule that the vast majority don't, and can't.

Thirdly, the idea that those at the top require to be paid ridiculously high levels of remuneration to incentivise them to keep doing it is rubbish. They already earn massively more than the vast bulk of the population and live extremely comfortable lifestyles, without being paid so much that they hardly know what to do with the money.

Fourthly, the idea that the massive salaries earned by the rich are the result of their hard work and risk taking is frequently untrue. Many company directors etc earn crazy sums of money for very few hours work. Also, many people at the top are financially rewarded for failure with big payoffs, even as the staff of their failed companies are laid off with a pittance.

Fifthly, many people at the bottom of the pile work incredibly hard, but still make very little money. The assumption that those at the bottom are there because they are lazy is insulting nonsense. Lord preserve us from holier than thou self employed types' who assume everyone working on a regular wage is a shirker.
