You would also see there isn't a single part of my body that would get anywhere near Rupp/ Adams or Sparks and I've been critical of all three for a lot of the last three months in particular.
Smith is marginally better than Elliott but not enough to make him a good signing if we had brought him in. You cant see the wood for the trees can you ?
We have 14 players out of contract in June and Adams is clearly bringing in loans (which other than the Invisible man) all seem to be better than what we have here, especially a target man to replace the useless Lavery & Robinson, so that he can fully clear the decks and start again next year.
Bring in permanent signings now and they are on the books until June 23 at least.
It makes total sense to bring in loans in January to allow a clear start in June, whatever league we are in.
This club hasn't got a prayer of progressing as long as every time we sign a player he is written off before he's even kicked a ball. Player contracts run to June so EVERYONE signed in January, whether permanent or on loan, is a player that another club feels they can do without. Pretty much in the same way Millwall felt they could do without Smith.
Players don't have to come from higher leagues to be a good fit or better than you already have and people who disagree with your (mainly) negative and (definitely) limited views are not always up the arse of Rupp/ Sparks or Adams.

You've got to have a clearout because they aren't good enough.
Parky recruited a lot of league 1 players to get promoted from league 2. Those players could then cope with league 1 when we got promoted and stayed with the club for a number of years. Then it was just tweaks in each window with a core of Darby, Meredith, McCardle, Reid etc
That costs a lot of money though. More than Rupp is willing to put in.

How the club progresses has absolutely zero to do with what anyone thinks of a player before he’s played. Guthrie, DMH, Robinson, if everyone had been praising them when they signed would they have actually been any better?
I have no idea how Elliot will fit in City’s side, if he comes in, plays well and scores a few he’ll have proved every doubter wrong. That’s on him now.
What’s holding the club back is having to rely on rubbish like DMH and Guthrie because of a badly run club and a disinterested owner.WilsdenBantam, CRASS, Fordy117 and 1 other person like this. -
Who exactly do you think we should be signing and where is the money coming from.

Why would Salford allow him to come here.
Maybe they think he’ll weaken us. Seems a strange decision from Bowyer. The Evidence, bantamlad92 and TallinnBantam like this. -

We need a physical presence up front someone who can lead the line and bring cook and our attacking midfielders who can score goals into the game. Whether Elliot is the right one remains to be seen

Confused with this signing.. Elliot it about the same level as Robinson who can’t get a game. So we’ve signed another non scoring impact sub.
Salford wouldn’t have let him come here if he was any good. Baffling.Manningham bantam, vladimir and chris mac like this. -
If Pereira starts firing and Vernon gets back to his best etc - then I'm fine now that we have three of four strikers who will convert the chances. Let's remember Lavery is decent, he just needs to stay fit for a few weeks.

So another target man for us to aimlessly lump the ball up to. IF we had a decent midfield who can run onto knock downs and second balls, then I could understand it. But we don't. If we had two decent wingers or full backs who can swing dangerous crosses into the box, then I could understand it. But we don't.

Well when he was brought on against us he played very well. We don’t have any end product so let’s see what he does with the cooky monster.

Looks to me like we didn't have any realistic striker targets at the beginning of January.borderlescott, Manningham bantam and vladimir like this. -
Tom Elliot has always been a handful for defenders on the few times I've seen him and he has the attributes to be a decent target man in League 2. But he isn't a replacement for Angol and I doubt very much that he will add much to our goal tally. We remain short of another recognised goal scorer to take some pressure off Cook (as we did in the last transfer window!) and time is running out. It's not looking hopeful so good luck to Sparks when the season tickets go on sale.

He is as quick as Angol and better in the air plus has both hamstrings intact, Whats not to like?

I remember him being okay against Farsley in pre season quite a few years ago….
seriously if this is the only striker signing it’s poor, very poor and a reflection of the lack of ambition.
if we’ve signed Elliot as a target man and bring in a more mobile/quick striker I’ll be okay with that as it gives us other optionsSolentbantam, Lancashire Bantam and Stevay_b like this.
