Are they? Maybe. But give it time FFS Park.
Walker - excellent debut, very quiet in the following 2 games.
Daly - Anonymous debut, half decent 2nd game, for which his heavily deflected goal doesn't really illustrate that he (and the time) were otherwise pretty flacid.
Bass - Very good debut. But its 1 game.

On paper there are players around Cook and Elliott that if they choose to turn up, have enough about them to be a threat up front.
On Tuesday Cook looked knackered and risking him as our only outlet would have seen the season fall away very quickly. I’m not saying the season will be defined by this signing, but I do believe it’s strengthening an area which gives us at least a small hope of starting to piece together the points we desperately need.Stop hovering to collapse... I think we need to see how the season ends before we self flagelate for umpteemth time out of umpteem seasons plus the ten good ones, in the last fifty years.
Last time I looked Harrogate were below us and all the other clubs are within reach.
And I've never seen been 5 points off the play-offs and 8 off automatic, but 17 off relegation as "fighting it out at the arse end of league 2" - but what do I know!!
Who ever said we can't compete? I'm just suggesting that some Bantams, should respect other clubs. Rochdale have been fairly well run over the years. You'd think we'd drawn at home to a Northern Premier league team, judging from the comments last Saturday.
I'm sure Pompey fans were saying the same when they were down here for four seasons. I remember, about 20 years ago Hull ones were saying the same.
The ambition has been shown, otherwise we wouldn't have bothered with any signings. After all there's no threat of relegation, so if we're not bothered why sign anyone?
And people like you were definitely moaning at the same point of Parky's regime!!
Let's give Adams a season and a half, then if no progress has been made your moans will be justified.Bantam Boy, Meltham Massive, nicknameless and 2 others like this. -

You would also see there isn't a single part of my body that would get anywhere near Rupp/ Adams or Sparks and I've been critical of all three for a lot of the last three months in particular.
Smith is marginally better than Elliott but not enough to make him a good signing if we had brought him in. You cant see the wood for the trees can you ?
We have 14 players out of contract in June and Adams is clearly bringing in loans (which other than the Invisible man) all seem to be better than what we have here, especially a target man to replace the useless Lavery & Robinson, so that he can fully clear the decks and start again next year.
Bring in permanent signings now and they are on the books until June 23 at least.
It makes total sense to bring in loans in January to allow a clear start in June, whatever league we are in.
This club hasn't got a prayer of progressing as long as every time we sign a player he is written off before he's even kicked a ball. Player contracts run to June so EVERYONE signed in January, whether permanent or on loan, is a player that another club feels they can do without. Pretty much in the same way Millwall felt they could do without Smith.
Players don't have to come from higher leagues to be a good fit or better than you already have and people who disagree with your (mainly) negative and (definitely) limited views are not always up the arse of Rupp/ Sparks or Adams.

Starting again from scratch in june , get the football big book of bull shit cliches ready . They need a good pre season , time to bed in , time to "gel" , judge them at christmas , judge them at the end of the season , the manager needs at least four windows before we cast judgement , get behind the team , wait till you have seen them play , give the "lad" a chance , young and hunger players only , and if your do not like the players signed or the manager go support another team etc .

How is Elliot going to take the pressure off Cook if one of them is always sat getting splinters in his backside?
If DA changes the system and we play 2 up top then perhaps this signing might have the sort of impact you're suggesting but if we plod on with a lone striker then perhaps it's actually weakening us some of the time by replacing Cook with Elliot.
That said, all the comments on here suggest Elliot is great in the air and very good at holding the ball up. Time will tell on that but unless he's completely transformed as a footballer I've a feeling a few of the posters have jumped to conclusions based on his height and are set to be disappointed.Jayteebee, vladimir, Botswana Bantam and 2 others like this. -
Nothing against the lad himself, but we were supposed to be ready for January to push on. We’ve seen one other team strengthen and we’ve borrowed their cast off.
Sure he brings some qualities to the side that we don’t have but I still don’t see where we’ve addressed the lack of goals issue.borderlescott, Petrov, vladimir and 1 other person like this. -
To be honest I'd rather have this signing as opposed to be paying over the odds for a striker who's best days look way behind him.vin weasel, Kevin1954, Ollylondonbantam and 1 other person like this. -
Good signing for us with the qualities we need for the way Adams likes to play, Hope he plays both him and Cooky as a dual strike force especially at home but doubt it with Adams preferring a more defensive set up, A move to 4-1-3-2 would give the team more outlet

I see him as been as effective as Angol, who let's be honest is terrible at leading the line.
He's not exactly a fringe player. Started and scored the only goal against Port Vale, just last week
If you notice, not only is that the type of chance we've been wasting, he also had a significant contribution to their only other chance in a game which Vale fans must wonder how on earth they didn't win.
Let's see what he ends up like. I never thought Angol would be any good and in fairness has been fine.Hampshire Bantam, Inspector, Lancashire Bantam and 1 other person like this. -
Probably slagging him off because this shows perfectly clear how much ambition this club has under rupp and Twitter boy. None. Zero. Zilch.
We got turned down by a non league striker for Rochdale, and resort to this lad on the basis he caused our defence a few problems. Our own defenders cause our defence a few problems it doesn't take much for any striker to do the same.
The only way we'll ever get out of this mediocrity is change from the top down, rupp and Twitter boy out and get an owner with some fecking ambition and a CEO who knows what he's doing not just what he learned from Rhodes in a 6 month crash courseJudgeMental, Manningham bantam, Bantamsteve and 1 other person like this. -

I don’t mind this signing, I’ve been saying for weeks we need a back up target man for Cook. He’s not the fittest and we look awful, even worse than normal, when he isn’t on the pitch. Not expecting to rely on him for the goals if he can keep the ball up field and bring those behind him into play which is something we struggle with then good.
I do worry though that this is our last signing, we still need a first choice striker imo and a RB. That’s if we want to go for promotion that is, which I don’t think we’re capable of. Any striker is a gamble. Bobby was the biggest, John Hawley was a gamble, Nahki Wells a massive gamble. For those who are writing Elliott off before seeing him play IN our team rather than in Salford's, just take a quick look at Cole Stocktons stats before last season (and this), and consider how many were wanting to sign him on the back of one good season at Morecambe.
One things for sure, this piece of the jigsaw fits a damn sight better than Austin Samuels did, a player who had he been at NPL level would probably have scored a bucket load.Stop hovering to collapse...
