The positivity thread

I wasn't asking a question just adding some positivity as that's what this thread is about. Looking forwards to a brighter future.

Not surprised it gets hijacked with anti club sentiment.

Getting back on topic a little bit, I got really bored yesterday and went through all the league 2 teams and analysed them on last seasons league position, change/upheaval at the club, transfer business and pre-season form. So here are some L2 predictions with some surprising findings:

Exeter - winners - perennial playoff losers finally make it out of the league and are the main beneficiaries of everyone else being distinctly average. Well run and kept a decent team together from last season was all it needed.

Port Vale, Cheltenham - autos (just) - both similar to Exe and slightly ahead of the chasing pack currently

Harrogate Town - playoffs - my dark horses for the season, teams coming up tend to do well and with all the turmoil in the league are set to benefit from this. Average transfer business but have a strong team playing well.

Bradford - playoffs / chasing pack - joint with a number of other clubs including FGR, Tranmere and Salford - average pre-season, average/poor transfer business but trimmed the squad well and on paper stronger than several other teams. A couple more signings in key areas could see us more comfortable in the top 7 and even challenge the top 3.

Walsall - midtable - only mention it because I have a feeling they may surprise and be contenders for top 7 - finished last season strongly and retained their squad.

Bolton / Mansfield - absolutely nowhere near. Bolton were incredibly poor last year even with their points deduction. Their transfer business is the best in the league but their pre-season doesn't look great. In reality they could probably finish anywhere and will probs make playoffs but I think there is a lot of work to be done there still. Reminds me a bit of us last season

Southend / Scunthorpe / Stevenage - 2 from 3 to go down
Morecambe / Carlisle to just about survive

A lot of that probably won't mean much, think its going to be the most unpredictable league we've ever seen and injuries will play an even bigger role on the reduced squads, however don't think there is a great deal to fear out there tbh

 

The real reason Rhodes gets stick is because his family have been involved in 2 administrations and 4 (or is it 5?) relegations.

Looking at that he gets off lightly. Imagine if he'd failed to extend Luke Hendrie's loan instead!!

Positives from the Bolton game:-

Watts pass for the French assist. Lovely.
Pritchards headed goal. Lovely.
The fact we didn't look completely lost in midfield possession.

Positives, its beautiful day, I support the best football team in Yorkshire, first game of the season we beat the bookies favourities away, our home and away kits look amazing, I'm going for a walk by the sea soon with my beautiful gf.

 

Staunton and French's performances. It's only 1 game but two young lads played and did well. Incredibly early days yet but hopefully it's a case of young lads just needing some first team football in order to blossom.

The Pritchard header remained me of Jimmy's header at Wembley where he headed it back across dropping into the far corner out of the keeper reach, very good effort.

I've got another positive. This forum is the epitome of sensible adult discussion when compared to the T&A's comments section over the last few weeks. Which seems to have fallen into something approaching what you'd expect from a few teenage girls squabbling with each other.

How much Tyler French reminds me of Simon Francis who did alright for Bournemouth's surge into the Prem and was Club captain revered by their fans. His time has now come to an end possibly, but if TF can mature as well as him, he could prove a big asset.
