I left over 30years ago but still work there occasionally
Have supported the club over 50years it gets under your skin
Not bought a season ticket this time mainly due to Covid and all the regulations surrounding addmittance but even before Covid reared its ugly head I was thinking shall I shan't I That doesn't mean if circumstances change I won't attend am happy to pay more on the day even though someone in this thread spouted we would not be welcome doing this (strange when you are putting extra money into the club)Have seen the bad times and the very bad times but never have I been as lethargic about a new season
As this is a positive thread the only thing I can be positive about is I have no idea how this season will pan out on paper we look very weak and short in important positions depends if other teams are worse than us I suppose

In the sixty odd years I have been following this club it has had a lot more downs than up three times I have been to meetings trying to raise money to save it. The majority of the time has been spent in the bottom division once we had the indignity of having to go cap in to the rest of the league clubs keep us In. The good Times in between have been like finding water after walking through the desert.
So where we are now is nothing new it’s the norm I don’t like it nobody does but it doesn’t stop me from supporting the football club that I love which has been a big part of my social life all through my days. Chairmen managers and players are transient its supporters should be permanent.

Well said Park, good man. This will be my 66th season, whatever it brings I will be there, after all on the law of averages there have been more seasons gone then there are to come so no wavering now.

So history dictates your modern day thinking and you use this as a justification for being the norm. What an abject, backwards way of thinking. Pathetic actually.
It's not about supporting the club. Clapping. Moaning.

It's about today, it's about tomorrow not 60 odd years ago. A plan, direction, communication.

I've watched us 35 years. So what. What's happened has happened. Gone. But IMO, the situation at Valley Parade is one of regression, poor leadership, dwindling support. That's what Bradford City represent to me in 2020.
I'm not happy and like you Park, I don't like it.

Bit of reality creeping in there park be careful !!!!!
I too went to those meetings rattled tins in the town centre carried collecting blankets round the pitch at half time cleared the pitch of snow etc etc those were the bad times but full of character and we accepted that
In those days the ground was literally falling down the club/owners didn't have a pot to pi$$ in
But that doesn't mean we have to accept that today for the first time we have a chairman reportedly worth millions a ground that with a bit of work could be premiership standard and we are still languishing in the Khazi league if you are "happy" with that then so be it but I am not its lazy backward thinking and encouraging the general malaise amongst supporters we have never had the possibilities we have now, no wonder some fans are doom and gloom it's frustrating considering what we have and what we could have I quite admire the blind faith/everything is rosy outlook you portray but even you have to admit things could and indeed should be better It's getting us nowhere, with your and a few others attitude Mr Rahic would still be patrolling the corridors
Open your eyes to where we are and where we should be with a little effort and forward thinking

Clubs like Burton and Fleetwood have shown what can be done in a short space of time with ambitious owners who run their clubs like i suspect they run their successful businesses. If your history show a continual diet of shit munching in the bottom tier then the only thing that will change that is owners with a self belief and a desire to succeed beyond all others.I understand what Park means, once you start supporting you shouldn't stop but that doesn't mean blind loyalty to something that has no real desire to push itself forward. If i don't see some sort of long term plan emerge in the next year or two i'll still support but it will be from afar because i have no desire to watch league 2 football on regular basis.

Some years you and Park have done and I hope you both have many more, hopefully at a higher level ....

So here we are in 2020. As somebody whom is involved in a capacity at the club, pretend I know nothing of the club as it resides right now and sell me the club as we are in 2020. Its aims, plans, drive and what this looks like. How does our structure fit in with modern day football.

    Thanks

To be honest, I think our structure does fit in with modern day football. We're a league two club, struggling to attract players, falling out with primadonna strikers who think they deserve special treatment, trying to deal with unrest on the stands, fighting to make ends meet, winning one day, losing the next bla bla bla. Could go on. The thing is - all I have mentioned happens from the top leagues down. Look at Barcelona - they are in the same situation as us. We're no different. The only thing, us as fans, cling to is the glory days of seasons gone by. These are our points of reference. If we hadn't been in the Premiership, then I don't think we'd be moaning so much. But would we swap those days? I don't think so. It's a cliche, but we should be happy we have a club to support, but does that stop me wanting us to smash the league each season? No it doesn't. I love the feeling of anticipation and expectancy during the build up to the opening game of the season (this cup game before the actual league, ruins that a bit), and as much as I try to be positive, of course some negativity creeps in too. I've not sat through sixty odd seasons like some of the posters on here have (I think this is my thirty seventh), but that doesn't stop me from getting the thrill the week of the opening game and planning my social life around a calendar for the next eight months. The positives for me so far, is that football is actually going ahead, and although it may be a weird format this season, it's almost a case of "back to normality" after the extended summer break, and I'm looking forward to it! Ask me again after the Bolton and Colchester matches, but for now, I've got a smile on my face imagining myself sat on the sofa on Saturday shouting at the tv! CTID!

By making it affordable for mums and dads to bring their children along with them that’s why we get the crowds we do.

That's not sustainable for a progressive club park as you well know
There are lots more for the youngsters to do nowadays than in our days that cost the same if not less
If the product is poor people simply won't buy it whether it's cheap or not

Unfortunately, kids these days expect instant satisfaction. If they could swipe left (Google it) after the first two minutes of a match, they would! Arghh...my positivity lasted all of one post :)

But our crowds are beating the trend you are right there is plenty of other things they can do but where else can a family of 4 go for under twenty quid

Problem is they were built on the back of successful football in league 1. Season ticket sales of 13,000+ are not sustainable on a diet of league 2 football. If we don't go up and quickly those ticket sales will fall.
Here's what should happen (forgetting Covid for a minute). This what my young un came up with in discussion
£150 across the board in league 2
    £200 in league 1.
    £250 in the championship
£300 to £350 in the premiership.

All hypothetical of course as the likely hood of championship football, never mind the premiership, is light years away. But even with the price rises it would be less than a tenner for league 1 football, just over a tenner a game for championship football.
