When David arrived, the players were unfit and useless. Now they are fit.

Not spent money on watching them this season then? Because you’ve the right to call them it if you’ve outlaid good money to watch this shower.

    I disagree, in the main.

I was at Walsall and I felt the players gave it their all. They absolutely dominated the home team, it was frankly like a training exercise we were so on top (red card helped, granted). Butterfield ran the game, as you'd expect. Everything good came through him. But we didn't get the goals our dominance suggested we should have.

However, we were defensively appalling, especially from set-plays. Did they switch off? It looked that way. The third goal is horrendous. It should never have even got to being a corner for them. Chicksen could have cleared a long ball, but he tried bringing it down and failed to do so, they won the corner. And then chuff knows what ROD is doing in goal. It's a great delivery, but that's his ball to punch.

There's quality in this side, in midfield especially, and we've some decent enough second strikers. What we don't have are proper wingers who will take a man on, or get back to help their full-backs.
We don't have a proper target man who will hold the ball up to allow our quality midfielders to push on and feed off seconds.
But worst of all, I don't rate any of the defenders, except Mellor who's not been available.

Still enough decent options in the right system and playing the appropriate style to finish fifth bottom. Let's hope Drury gets a tune out of them on Saturday before the new man arrives.

9 times out of 10 we win that game on Saturday. Not having it that they don't try/care. They just failed. It wasn't a lack of effort, in my opinion.

Let's pull together as one and assess the bullshine in the summer, once we've stayed up.

You right in the sense it wasn't a lack of effort. We just aren't very good at scoring goals or defending goals. I guess that makes a bottom four team on merit, which we are. As for decent option, nah. That bits wrong. January put paid to that, the only chance we had of actually giving the team options.

So Hopkin has resigned on the basis of a poor defence.

It’s almost as if he lost his bottle. It’s such a shame - we have Mellor back in the squad, Callum Woods can’t be far off.

I can’t believe he’s snapped so much he wanted to resign. Granted it was a shit result, but I feel he’s just taken the easy option and given up too readily.

We’ve had some OK results recently if you take away Fleetwood. Shrewsbury doesn’t seem
    2 minutes ago.

I feel Hopkin was slowly but surely getting there. I’m disappointed in him for going. Just seems like such a waste after all the efforts he’s gone to to try and build up the club again

He’s done things off the pitch to get us going the right way and brought in his own staff only to throw it away on the back of one bad game. And now we have to start again. Can’t help but feeling it’s curtains for us now. Relegation would set us back 10 years. We’ll be back to having 7,000 crowds rattling around an empty stadium with no money, and playing bloody Macclesfield and Cheltenham. I can’t face that again.

I've no idea why Hopkin resigned, but the consensus seems to be that he felt he couldn't get enough out of the group, and that he wanted us to stay up so is allowing fresh eyes/ideas to come in and give it a go.
I can't say I was overly keen on him, his record here was poor and I used to listen to his interviews and wonder if he'd been at a different game. Until Saturday. I agreed with all he said. However, there was resignation in his voice, in the words he used. I think he genuinely walked as he thought he'd take us down. Good luck to him.

I'm intrigued to see how we fare on Saturday.

I think they tried on Saturday. Too many fans see they lost and hurl abuse saying how lazy they all are. Not really the case here.

But did they have the extra commitment that Walsall showed?

    Again a mixture of giving up pathetic goals and missing chance after chance cost us. {and their first goal was a foul}

The whole squad is so disjointed. I'm not sure Hopkin added to it sensibly to give us anything different.
