McCall wants talks at the end of the season about sorting the pitch out. Good luck with that Stuart

Unfortunately we were stuck between a rock and a hard place at the time. We had no choice but to take whatever was offered, due to the previous mismanagement of Richmond, Rhodes and others.

Of the two, could Gibbs have been the better owner? Clearly knows how to get the best out of a deal. Maybe he might buy the club back at the end of the lease, having earned a pretty penny for his family pension fund.

McCall has every right to want to speak about it now because it's a disgrace.

Clearly just relaying it in the summer isn't enough.

The drainage done two years ago did its job or the game would have been off. How many posters said before the game and indeed the Stevenage midweek game that there is no way the game will be played. We haven't had a single game called off due to the weather since the drainage was done in summer 2018 . The FA and EFL don't like games called off and us being the only one as was the case when our home game against MK Dons 2 years ago was called off in last minute and even Avenue were able to play. Unfortunately the surface was neglected at first by Rahic and last summer by Rhodes and hopefully this will be rectified.

True. It costs and arm and a leg to maintain a bowling green and then you get morons playing football and cricket on them as they do in Lister Park and others.

Julian has never had a plan ever since he's been involved with us that's why we are the club we are. 1 good year in his whole tenure speaks volumes for his strategy/plans.

I can't believe anyone really thinks this season is going to resume, in any meaningful way, anytime soon.

Sure, they might find enough volunteer players to cobble together one or two televised, behind closed door matches, but this season (and almost certainly next season) is over.

I am sure the undersoil heating helps in the winter and I imagine they will have very good drainage with them being in the premier league for so long

I believe Paula Watson aluded to it when asked, saying the club did not go for all the bells and whistles and went for a cheaper option.

Drainage is the problem isn't it? I believe its largely as a result of the old retaining wall down the midland road side. Majority of the cost that's been speculated, relates to getting to that wall to dig/blast it out. So would presumably need to be a summer job.

There is also the lack of sunlight in certain areas of the pitch, the main stand is responsible for that. This requires special equipment. The light rig we have is nowhere big enough, we need at least two to cover the pitch rather than patches. Southampton have one, it is enormous several covering the whole pitch and going constantly. Obviously we won’t be able to afford that, not only in buying it, but running it. That is how the prem overcome lack of light on the pitch.
