Totally agree there, Jacobs gave the best summary on local radio.

@Bronco@Bronco I nearly always agree with you but.......
None of them are capable in playing that formation, a diamond with a flat back four is a very effective system, Leicester played it in their premiership winning season to great effect
However it’s also a very specific formation. It concedes possession to the opposition, forces them away from goal and down the flanks. This relies on a positionally great midfield anchor (Think Kante) two experienced full backs, midfielders who will double up and help out the full backs, then two no nonsense central defenders so if a ball beats the full back the chances are a big brute of a centre half deals with it. Your then looking at recycling the ball very quickly Back to front (Hoof) and your reliant on a lightning quick forward, (Vardy or our own Wells). A target player and your centre midfielders racing forward to join the attack. Think about our first eleven. Possibly Cooke and Donaldson the only ones capable of playing that system. Clarke’s too slow, French & Wood not suited, no faith in centre half’s ability to deal with crosses......

Seems to me managers play out their
careers with the same No2.I get why
but where do the fresh ideas come from?

Not sure if there are courses to introduce
training and tactical innovations but it
seems some managers lose the plot and
fail to come to terms with opposition tactics.

When a game pans out like on Monday,I'll
    never understand why systems,tactics and
substitutes aren't made to suit another
    system.

Nice of you to say so,

So with the squad we have McCall has limitations to the formations he could ask the starting Mondays 11 to play or given your in-depth information with regards the diamond any starting 11, why do you think he asked them to play it in a very competitive Yorkshire derby game having watched Harrogate a few times he said.

I'd watched Harrogate contain Tranmere in their own for almost all the second half after they had pulled a goal back and stated it would not be easy against them, what could have made him try that formation I believe for the first time this season.

Hindsight is a great thing, and Stuart’s intentions are always 100% especially when it comes to City. If I had to second guess him, I’d say he thought playing midfielders that liked a tackle on the left and right would double up on their wingers and/ or encourage our full backs to push forward. Instead it just encouraged their fullbacks to push up, especially down their right leaving us badly exposed. On the odd occasion we managed to spring forward and escape their press Donaldson looked good, he’s made for that position, but it only works with either a very mobile attacking partner or the midfield supporting at speed.
It was more frustrating because he either couldn’t see the problem or didn’t know tactically what to do to change it.

I think most who watched the first half thought we needed a change (especially when Evans went off with a tight hamstring),that being an ideal time for a change, lets hope its not the later.

Quite a few premier league managers do seminars, and while Stuart was unemployed he admitted he he attended some of them.Of course, you have to be able to understand what is being discussed, otherwise it's a waste of time going.

That is clearly untrue. You seem to hang on my every word. Don't be embarrassed just let it out. I can feel the love and admiration wrapped up in the warmth of your insincerity all the way over here.

...or alternatively he saw a plan he liked. Thought I am going to do that but has forgotten that the tools he has don't meet the needs of the plan he wants to implement. Which is, of course, as bad as not understanding the plan :)

I think the words you are looking for are - Make an Ass out of you and me. Although I never used the word assume I will have to give credit where it is due by allowing that you achieved the 'Ass' and 'You' bits all by yourself. Well done young man. WINNER!

Under no circumstances will I listen to Radio Leeds, as long as Kiwomya is employed. His "umms", "ers", "you know", combined with his dull montone voice ranks him as the worst summariser of City games, I've heard in many a year.

Watched the game on Sky and to be honest I couldn't believe some of the stuff the commentators were coming out with, saying they thought it was a cracking advertisement for league two football, end to end stuff plenty of goal mouth action, two good footballing sides getting the ball down and playing football.
They had Don Goodman on before the game I don't know if Don was commentating but I wish I'd be at the game they were watching.

I agree that he's legitimately not very good at it, but he has endeared himself to me and I quite like him.

Well, some on here will want to give him some more time before drawing conclusions. Remember Brunker? You can't be sure they're not very good until they've been involved for around five seasons.

Five seconds was long enough with Kiwomya let alone five seasons
