There are serious doubts about whether Bradford Live will actually open.

Tickets for the first two planned events were pulled last month and the company behind the project NEC Group and Bradford council are refusing to comment on whether they have pulled the plug.

The community needs football as well. It brings more footfall into the city centre than any other single entity

I mentioned Canal Rd because it’s a viable alternative to the one on Valley Rd . It’s not a preference , rather an option. Please no more pie in the sky 360 days a year use with 20,000 crowds nightly. It’s utter bollocks sorry. Why do we think the Odsal “ plan” got laughed out of town….? It had the same b/s , boxing, wrestling , concerts this, women’s international that, rugby , show jumping, etc etc etc etc.

Show me a ground in entire English football that is in use nightly with viable crowds? It’s pie in the sky nonsense Vin. Why do we persist in quoting it? It’s just not financially viable to suggest these events will remotely come to fruition? It’s not being defeatist , and I am not knocking you, rather the potential for another millstone around the club and City of Bradfords neck.

I don’t think that’s the question being asked , I take it for granted tbh.

    Who said every night.
I put twice a week potentially.
    Summer time is Rugby.
Every month or so a concert over the summer.
Don't be one of those who can't envisage something that could be really beneficial.
Its what holds the City back.
Odsal got laughed out cos there's nothing there.
25000 people all piling into the top house for a pint and then 15000 people queuing for a bus or taxi to the train station.
    Please.

Something needs to be done because Valley Parade in 25 years time is hardly the sporting venue to take football past 2050 in Bradford. I don't think I'll be around then but i'd like to think there would be a stadium in the city actually fit for that time period.

To be fair Rugby League runs from mid February until the end of September. Having said that l can see that clubs like Huddersfield manage two sports on one surface. However that seems to be Desso Grass Master turf, which @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler has suggested is a significantly expensive option. Not sure how our current level of pitch would cope with both sports, especially February through to May. Add onto that the complication that the pitch needs to be relaid. Some have indicated that the reduced time between the Play Offs and the start of the this season, adversely impacted on the current pitch. Nothing is simple or straightforward.

Sorry it’s a myth , what will the two “events” a week be during the football season. Then follow it up with the same question during the summer rugby season, when does the pitch get retreated again?

What with Stork? Bradford beck was 50 feet below when I was at Frizinghall. Sorry I had no idea about houses though.

BBC have published a news story on it too, both sides refusing to comment to them either on the story.

Never really understood what type of pull Bradford Live will get to be honest. The concert hall is around 3000 and the rest is for an auditorium. Not sure the size of St. Georges but I cant imagine it's far off? You wont get big musis or comedy acts as the venue is too small. The big touring theatres and musicals will go next door. You're talking acts either on their way up or on their way down, but the 02 in Leeds already gets a lot of them and they seem to always tour across 02 venues, so might be in some kind of touring contract with them?

I've just read this Karl and with respect don't think your maths are correct. I'm not in possession of my notes (archived) but in my time on the Board JR and ML had me look at what you're suggesting and I took professional advice. The financial income from filling the 'Odsal Bowl' to the level of Rooley Lane was c£10 million, let's say 12 years ago. to then build on the site would require huge foundation costs to stabilise the filled ground OR a long wait for it to consolidate. After that there is the cost of remediating the former tip land to the South which is leaking methane and would all need removing, something I know about from my working days on two such sites. The methane site would cost in my opinion, north of £15 million to remediate which explains why it has never been done.
As far as Dunn's is concerned the Council wasted £17million on a vanity project to replace it at Sedbergh with less facilities than Dunn, all because the roof leaked and was deemed a risk. At meetings with the Council in 2016 and 17 with Rahic I told them I could make Dunn first class, state of the art for half the cost of Sedbergh but they were fixated on "high class retailers" which I told them would not happen in the new economic climate. The Council CEO told me I didn't understand retail !! at which point I confirmed in my mind there was little hope for the City.
In terms of other posts on here getting the Council and Bulls involved, both are skint. Only a few weeks ago the Bulls were at the Council with their usual begging bowl and the Council are in hock to Govt. for £80 million plus interest with a further £120 million plus interest to come next year.
As to your top of town location this would present a massive issue with traffic, a small site and in my view would be an enormous cost ( £30million minimum) for a 25k stadium which would be difficult to extend.
Karl, sorry to appear negative but only a multi millionaire will even scratch the surface, just buy VP or a better deal on the next Lease and spend the savings on upgrading, better value for money.

Councillor Ross-Shaw is on the Bradford Live Board but the T&A seem frightened to ask the hard questions and aren't even reporting the Look North piece, probably due to being muzzled by the Council.

When the bulls were regularly getting crowds of 15,000+ Odsals foibles kinda became its assets. Lots of space around the stadium to cater for food and drink outlets and for family attractions. Easy to get away from and at the time a decent amount of pubs within easy walking distance either down Manchester Road or in Wibsey. Not once in my years watching Northern/Bulls (I haven't been for a few years) did i ever think the stadium was in the wrong place or suffered for lack amenities, apart from the walk to the terrible toilets. The stadium itself was ideal for the time, now it needs bulldozing.

Now we are talking. Filling it in is something I have been saying for years! “ Ah but no it’s a dump and Northern play there”
