Just read it for 1/2 hour…… a very thorough appraisal of where we are and where we have been. I often wondered if we could have done something different to selling VP to Gibb, but this puts such thoughts to bed. He secured a very lucrative deal for his pension fund for sure, but that is what happens when you are between the devil and the deep blue sea.

it stirs up loads of emotions reading about the recent history of city. Richmond I loved his ambition for the club and at the time I just couldn’t believe he could make it happen but he did. I loved him and hated what he did to us all at once.

Can't take this seriously, there's no mention whatsoever about how we should move to The Shay or Gigg Lane.

Rupp needs to buy the ground back for our future success, we can't be paying that sort of money in rent for another 25 years.

I think so but I doubt we can do it on the cheap. Gibb will not give ground in my view. However Rupp could pay for it and charge us a reasonable rent over a period determined by how much it costs.

As long as we are in League Two the rent is a problem but not the mill stone around our necks some suggest, the higher we go the less of a burden if becomes.

But still Bronco, it's alot of money going out of the club and our level it's a burden.

Agree as long as we're in league two that rent could certainly be put to better use, let's hope some agreement can be reached going forward, I'd love to have Gordon Gibb on board doing a deal with Rupp as part ownership.

Isn't this all Rhodes fault ? Way back when we almost went out of business and Gibb stepped in, he bought the ground and offered Rhodes some options for rent.. one of them was the flat 500k (i used to think it was 250k) which we are currently paying.. or another tiered rent ie the rent would drop significantly depending on which league we were in..

Looks like Rhodes foolishly thought we would never drop below Championship.. we've had some right crap owners :(

It's a thought but Rupp will become a burden of debt when he inevitably moves on?

Moving the seats on the titanic...

The club becomes a more saleable business if the ground and club are bought as one concern.
Bit like buying an old barn, big difference if you have planning permission already approved

If when he sells the club he sells both bits together. He might keep the ground as his pension

Brilliant read, well written and very well researched. However, re your point, lets say Rupp does buy it back, we are still going to have to pay him rent. He's a business man (or is he a lottery winner, who knows) so he will buy it using a separate company. I'm absolutely sure if he does buy it, he isn't just going to give us £5mill and add it to the "value" of the club.

He'll use a vehicle that suits him best.

Perfect scenario @Bronco@Bronco is swap half the value of BCAFC for ownership of the ground coming back to BCAFC (not Rupp), Gibb is an excellent businessman and would be an asset to have on board.

The way I read bits of it, compounded what I already believed, that the Rhodes family forced Gibb out by putting him an untenable position of having to put in more money or lose his part of his share.

Who knows what the future holds, would he be happy to purchase the stadium and come to some agreement that we pay the purchase price back over a number of years and if he had a bid that was acceptable the new owners would be buying both Bradford City FC and what is left of any outstanding rent on the stadium, I'd think that would be a better scenario for both parties.
