    It can still be done.
The amount of undeveloped land in that area you could build two stadiums.

It was a poor decision in my view. We needed a safety net, and the option to buy back at market value.

I don't see anything like that getting done nowadays without significant levels of private investment, and Bradford is dead on that front, nether club has anything to sell to help find it and with little buzz around them I just don't see where we get that from.

It would have to be a stadium which was shared with other organisations, perhaps the Bulls (similar to Huddersfield) possibly be used for other functions such as concerts.
The actual stadium could incorporate other business opportunities such as shops, offices, bars, gym etc.
The council could raise some money by potentially redeveloping Odsal as a commercial/industrial/retail hub.
Develop the Richard Dunn centre as a Training Ground facility for the club and community.

Land filling odsal and the sale of the land around Inc dunnies would more than pay for a new combined stadium

Would it fit on top of town behind north parade where they are knocking the market down

Priority must be purchasing the stadium, as paying 500k pa rent is not sustainable at L2. Hope a deal can be negotiated at £4m.

Problem is the Pension Fund has a very lucrative deal, close to 20% yield which is exceptional.

Exactly it's a game of poker between Rupp and Gibb
2 halves of a jigsaw puzzle both losing value without the other
If indeed Gibb wants to buy the club then the asking price would be inflated
If indeed Rupp wants to buy the ground then the asking price would be inflated
    Stalemate !!!!

I think it is a fabulous idea. We have to start somewhere, yes it will cost money and we need the Council to be forward thinking, erm well we can hope. I actually think taking football to the outskirts of the cities and towns is a soulless idea. Football needs to be the heart of the community in my view.

I think I may have spotted a minor sticking point in your plan.

The council is skint, the Bulls and City are skint so we won’t be building a new stadium anytime soon and the idea that supporters raise the money to buy the ground off Gibb will raise about £100 K tops. At the very least the next deal needs to be a rental purchase that eventually buys the ground back. This should have been negotiated in the original deal but I imagine Rhodes was desperate to raise the cash and Gibb held the cards.

    Genuine question(s).

What's the benefit of staying on the lease option? Is it right to say that whether we own the ground or continue leasing it we still have to pay for all the upkeep and maintenance anyway?

There's always a lot of "we should buy the ground because..." but I'm genuinely interested in the benefit of staying on the lease option.

We need to knock all the buildings around Forster square down and build a new 40k stadium, with hotel , casino and restaurants. Plus a refurb of the station.

Now we just need a nice new billionaire owner. Nurse, Nurse!

How big is your suggested site in acres or hectares whichever you prefer?

A new basic 25,000 capacity football stadium built to modern safety, accommodation and access standards will require approx 8-10 acres of land. That's without any allowance for land for the extra buoldings if it's to be used for other purposes such as retail or entertainment or hospitality. In its basic vanilla form without all the extras, that's more than 50% bigger than VP's current footprint. And then there's the cost and the small issue of finding £50mill ) or so (that's based on a rule of thumb of £2000 per seat of capacity used in the sports stadia sector as a pre-design estimate for a medium sized stadium to be built on a flat, accessible site) to build the new vanilla stadium on brownfield land and another £5-10mill found to buy the brownfield land, to remediate it and service it. Those are the realities of building a new VP. We need to get real and avoid the pie-in-the sky thinking.

Good call for a joint stadium with the Bulls, funded partly by BMDC selling the odsal site for tipping.

Bradford has a GVA worth nearly 12 billion pounds.
Twice the size of places like Bolton, Hull, Brighton, Leicester, Southampton, Sunderland and above cities like Nottingham, yet the money made in the city disappears into nothing.
Said places like Bolton and Hull and some of the above have had council funded or part council funded stadiums built in the last 30 years which have helped the local Communities and sports clubs thrive.
I've seen Coldplay at Bolton's ground, my missus went to the Stadium of light to see Beyonce.
All those teams above play host to international football matches at all levels and other international sporting events.
With regards the music concerts, people attending and spending money in the surrounding areas.
With the Bradford Live opening, and other established venues like St Georges and The Alhambra, imagine a midweek if City were at home at Forster Square, potentially 15-20k people in the City on a Tuesday.
That could be replicated 2 times a week with the Bulls on a Sunday, or other sporting events on drawing in fans from outside the area.
Regards concerts, Why not Valley Parade some would say?
Because you can't get all the stage, lighting and production stuff needed through a 10 foot wide gate behind the Bradford end.
The same reason why we can't get more of the grass growing lamps as there is no where to put them.
Leeds put there's in the massive park and ride behind their ground as there is room.
All these points show the longer we are at VP the harder it's gonna be to find a new home.
We need one now, we will definitely need one in 10 years time if we want to progress.
It all comes down to our council.
The money is there, but it's blown on crap we never see.
We are 10th in the UK rankings for gross value added!!
Yet look what we get in return.
Wake up people, and let's start making those figures work for us.
