    Spot on !!
If Rupp buys the ground with one of his other or a new company we will be in exactly the same predicament
He will expect the rent as Gibb does
Would only work (for us) when he sells up to sell both club and ground to new owners
    Can't see it happening

At the moment, it comes down to which, of two very rich men, want to take the least from the cash cow of Bradford City fans' loyalty.

But would that represent good value for the pension fund?

I'm not sure it would. At least the ground/land has some tangible value for them.

Given a choice of a lethargic uninterested owner
Or an owner who will ruthlessly drive us forward
I know which I would rather have

If Rupp owned Valley Parade I would hope it would be to reduce the rent in doing so help with finances something he clearly wants.
If we were to be paying a similar rent I'd hope a % would be a part of buying back the stadium but that would mean Rupp maybe hanging around for many years to come not sure that would go down to well with some of our fans ?.

As soon as Rupp shows interest in buying VP which I firmly believe he won't then Gibb has won he could virtually name his own price, the only way out of this mess is if Gibb buys Rupp out develops the club and sells both club and ground as a going concern, dig in for a long ride Dave neither will give in Rupp wants an over inflated sum without the ground imagine how much he would want for both !!!
I really don't think we can move forward under Rupp

A kind of rent to own agreement might work, lets say he pays £5million for the ground and we pay him back £200k p/a over 25 years (interest free) with the last payment meaning we get full ownership of the ground.

I'm respectful of the past but we need to move with the times.
Valley Parade logistically, and for functionality reasons is way past it's prime.
Its in an area which doesn't lend itself to a football stadium and imo stifles the potential and benefits that a stadium in a better position, that can do more than just hold a football match every week or two could bring.
For me the land between the old mill on Cape Street should be made available for a transport hub to get out to the North of the City, whether it be cars or buses, a footbridge built across the bottom of Hamm Strasse to a new stadium on the site between Canal Road and Valley Road.
Only Halfords and a few car garages are on that land so not massive upheaval.
A 22000 seater stadium, with scope for extension , can be easily built in that space, within spitting distance of Forster Square, which is being upgraded with an extra platform next year
The site to the South where the old sorting office was is still vacant so a hub for public transport, whether again it's buses or a link to the proposed new Leeds/Bradford tram line can be built there.
The potential of something like this would be huge.
City Centre Stadium, with good transport links.
Might be far fetched to some but at least it's a vision that would benefit the City of Bradford as well as the club whilst offering a potential share from the Bulls to help them with their quest to return to Super League.
The funding the council apparently tried recently for to make Odsal into a sporting and entertainment arena will have been refused as the benefits of doing that will have been minimal as it's miles away from everything else so logistically would have need millions to get it to it's potential, outside of the stadium build.
I think if the club and council got together with the Bulls and approached the govt levelling up funding committee again with a proposal like I'm saying, then it would be very hard to turn down.

Gibb would be a fool to sell unless it was money sufficient to cover rent for the next 50 years . In his position there is no way in earth I would sell unless we had a “ready made somewhere else” to go . If we do have somewhere VP becomes worthless . As long as that place remains elusive, Gibb holds the entire deck , never mind the aces !

It would cost more to demolish and its disposal costs than the land value ! . Scrap steel is pretty worthless these days !

I'm not sure Rupp would want to be around that long, if it could be done on shorter terms with the possibility of Bradford City increasing payments as we go throught the leagues ?.

Not sure it would make much difference though as I can not imagine anyone else wanting to buy it.

There is a lot of merit in what you say, or further along Canal Rd on the King George playing fields opposite what used to be ( may still be) ACW garden centre. That’s a huge area .

    Late News
None of it will happen , too expensive.

Regards the playing fields why move it further out of the City to somewhere with no access to major access roads and a small local rail station??
Valley Parade has better logistics so we'd be better there.
Regards the finances, the City will never move forward if we don't start to spend.
Let a private investor/investors fund it and let them take a slice of monies made from all the attended and sponsored events there, not just football, but Rugby League, Women's internationals, Under 21s, Concerts , Boxing etc.
More to it than Bradford City.
    It's a community investment.

The whole area of land where the Forster Square retail park now is would have been ideal for a shared stadium. On reflection we'd probably have been better looking there rather than expanding VP in the mid to late 90's.

When both clubs were on the up there might have been the will, but it was probably too soon after the fire for City, and the council still had their Odsal delusions.
