Of course it would matter if they were 100 miles away. As for those complaining, most have been taken out of context by people with an agenda to prove that not owning our own is bad. Some (like Evans) are just pure sour grapes.

These facilities are a mile above what the likes of Lee Sharp slated.

Do some research and come back with a definitive figure of how many league two clubs actually own their own training ground and how many are of a better quality than the ones we use at an expensive fee paying school.

This is a total non issue, perpetuated by those who just want a cheap dig at the club.

I remember a fans forum when one of the owners asked about investing money into the pitch or the team and the majority wanted money pumping into players first and foremost.

presuming we don’t and never will have a never ending pot of cash one will have to prioritise over the other.

    buying the ground £5-7m
Building training facilities from scratch, at least same again even for basics. And even then probably not as good as where we are now but at least we will own it.

unless we suddenly get an owner with a spare £20m on top of buying the club and sorting the team out then it will stay a blue print

I believe they trained at Scholemoor University all weather pitch's at on time, I bet they picked up some right injuries playing on the car park behind the main stand

Explain why it would matter about the location of the training ground? Also, I’m not interested in other clubs and what they have. We have a terrible record of injuries over the last 5, 6, 7 years. Are the pitches a contributing factor? You have to look at everything and hopefully Sharpe is doing just that. We’ve stagnated as a club and will probably take the easy option of signing another 25 year lease that prohibits growth in other areas of the club, which in turn stalls progression.

Your point on Barrow is irrelevant. Since they’ve moved their training to Manchester they’ve attracted far better players and moved up the league (currently above us). Players only play at a home ground once every 2 weeks, there is no need for the training facilities to be nearby. If Leeds moved out of Thorpe Arch and offered us it would you turn it down because it’s not in a Bradford postcode?

    Stockport County train at Carrington.
Not owned but lease a quality training centre.
Crewe have a quality training centre incorporating the academy.

    Mansfield have great new facilities.

But hey, we have 2 pitches, 1 I could go down and have a knock about on with my mates when no ones looking.

I don’t give one hoot about other clubs, I care about mine.

All I know is every year we are hit terribly by injuries it could be luck, it could preparation and training methods. How about this Kev… it could also be our facilities the constant whilst we’ve chopped and changed managers and players but still hit with terrible injuries.

Case in point the last open letter in 2018 from Rupp, he’s pointing out our injured players for our position and form , totally different players and manager but still the same facilities.

I am really disappointed in myself as I promised I’d never reply to you given your bizarre daily mail rant!!!

Silly me for biting this time!!!

We've had quite a lot of that over the years but if that was his mindset on return, then how many other players think the same. Regardless of the facilities, the perception is still the same. Maybe we should have done our homework on him too? The fact that McCall thought he was still a striker leads me to believe that we didn't.

Think that was around the mid 80s as I was at primary school when they trained at Scholemoor, not sure it was part of the University though. It was a council sports centre where Terry Dolan worked

Out of interest are our injuries any worse than other teams? I honestly don't have a clue as I don't pay any attention to other teams but if people are claiming that our training facilities are causing our injuries I'm presuming there is something to show that our injury record is worse than other teams? or are we just presuming that other teams dont get bad injuries

Wrexham, make use of several facilities for training during the week, varying from Colliers Park, Carden Park, the SToK Cae Ras and the Rock. No state of the art set up and they move around.
MK Don's apparentl currently train at Woughton on the Green - a public playing field.
For sure l would love a club owned state of the art training facility, but what we have may well be at least adequate.
I would rather see money earmarked for sport scientist role, a sports psychologist, health and physio support, possibly extra gym equipment and the VP pitch, than a couple of extra pitches and our own exclusive building.

You should at least quote the whole paragraphs..

Wrexham AFC currently use as many as six venues as the League Two side’s training ground on a rotating basis. The Red Dragons’ venues also include their Racecourse Ground stadium.

But plans are in the waters to build a purpose-built training ground as Wrexham’s Hollywood owners, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, continue to stamp their marks. The pair aim to create a bespoke facility, with club staff working behind the scenes to locate its possible site
    .

Milton Keynes Dons have reached an agreement with Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP) and Milton Keynes Council (MKC) to develop a new state-of-the-art training facility at the MK Bowl1. The Dons have received approval to install first-team pitches at the National Bowl as the first phase of a wider-ranging proposal to use the site for a new first-team training ground2
    .

Granted permission was given a year ago, but the aim is to have their own facility.

At the moment the two clubs quoted have plans for a state of the art training facilities when promotion happens. That is key, you have to have the financial resources to be able to build.

It's a good question Storck. I would say over the past couple of seasons, our injuries have been no worse than most other teams and better than some. For example, Mansfield and Northampton both had shocking injury lists last season. Injuries are part and parcel of the game and every team is going to have them at some point and some players are more injury prone than others, such as Walker and Pattison. Young came back to us not fully fit and when he did eventually play, he seems to have aggravated things further and Oyegoke's injury to his shoulder and Stubbs fractured skull cannot be attributed in anyway to the training facilities. The other injuries we've had have been a few games here and there for certain players, which happens throughout the course of a season for every team in every league up and down the country. There will be some though who will continue to argue that training at a school is the root cause of our injuries, even though there is precious little evidence to support that theory.

We are looking at the ‘here and now’. Those clubs have achieved their current position, Wrexham promoted and MK Dons in 4th, on the training grounds they have at this point of time! The future……is just that.

I said, ‘For sure l would love a club owned state of the art training facility, but what we have may well be at least adequate’. That comment remains.

I watched them to give my memory a boost. The facilities are good. They have a good canteen and leisure facilities. I am not an expert but the pitches look just great to me.
