So sadly, I called it correctly. All too predictable :(

    1-1 today!

This is the problem. Test cricket is built on partnerships. Too often with England, it gets to the stage where ONE batsman has to take it on his shoulders to keep the innings together. Yesterday was a classic example of what happens when each player has confidence in each other’s abilities. They bat together and build up a score. When a wicket goes down, England panic and the pressure on the incoming batsman increases, and he HAS to score big. And what happens? A collapse. Stokes and Butler take it upon themselves to switch from Test to T20 mode, and get out because they are chasing the game. Robinson out playing a switch hit sums it up, The mentality is all wrong.

I suppose we need all the help we can get.
Don’t know much about Jhye Richardson who looks the likely replacement.
I’ve seen him on the big bash but he’s only played 2 tests.50 overs bowled and 6 wickets.
Roll on 04.00am Thursday in Adelaide for the day/nighter

    Australia win toss and bat.
Cummins out of test due to a COVID close contact.
    Michael Neser replaces him.
So two of Australia’s main strike bowlers are out.
And Englands 2 main strike bowlers are back in.
    What could go wrong?

    C’mon England.

First wicket with a quite brilliant catch from Buttler.

How daft going out to a restaurant the night before a match. I’d have thought curfews would have been in place.
Let’s hope we take full advantage of his complacency!

Starc and Lyon were also in the same restaurant but we’re sat outside.
South Australia has really strict rules apparently.

Unfortunately followed by a bad dropped catch when Labuschagne was in the 20s.

Oh FFS. Buttler drops a dolly and gives Labuschagne another life.

Buttler would be one of the first names down in a World XI in white ball cricket. But in red ball i'm amazed the faith shown in his selection. Certainly not the best keeper available and flatters to deceive with the bat. Seems harder to get out of the team than in and another benefiting from the lack of confidence in the batting line up.

The Harris catch was superb but the late drop was village green stuff.

You just cannot give these top batters a second life.

From the position we are in after day one it is going to take an almighty effort to get back into the test.

WTF is Rory Burns doing in a test team? Crap opening bat and useless fielder. He's fumbled numerous stops and now given four overthrows away with a wild throw.

And Burns fails again. The man is nowhere near being a test class opener.

Unfortunately there are too many who are nowhere near being test class.
Who would Australia take from this side?
    Root ,Stokes and Anderson.
    Broad at a push.
    That’s it.4 max.

No surprises with Burns, just about as useful as dom sibley and he's not even on the tour.
England will keep picking him and the aussie cheaters can continue to laugh at our bankrupt thinking.

    Our batting lineup is poor.
It's a shame that Archer and Stone are injured. We've too many steady medium fast bowlers for Aussie flat pitches. The selectors are obviously very wary about playing Mark Wood in every test because of his injury record. Having other genuine pace options in the squad would have meant that we could always field at least one genuine speed merchant.

Wouldn't suprise me, due to the lack of obvious 'in nick' replacements, if Burns was selected again.

There are signs that Root & Silverwood are losing the plot and over thinking matters, expect more decision that fly in the face of logic. We are told we have been planning for this series for 4 years, well you could have fooled me.

We need to bat all day on day 3 and the next 4 wickets get us past the follow on score. Big ask !

If Root & Malan go early we will be following on at tea.
