I'm 100% convinced he is looking to sell the club.

 

As you know
Any business owner would sell at the right price
Everyone starting in business has that thought at the back of their mind
If the timing is not right then an over inflated price is quoted
He needs to regain some of his investment and must finance the club
to a least a top half L1 club to get anywhere near his initial investment back
Whether he can do this with present club personnel is a different matter

 

Fully believe the club has contacted the Daily Mail to put this out to a national paper as a tempter for anyone looking into it. Not a chance they read the T&A post from 4 months ago and contact the club, and also the club are gullible enough to actually give out info on being open to selling, if he is 100% committed. 10 mil is just a daft price.

If you google "how much to buy a League two club", one of the first articles is on a American Q&A blog style site. It's written by a bloke in 2016 talking about how much it costs to buy a Prem club near London, owning all it's assets. Then he drops into the lower league values based on, well sod all as none of his variables at the start don't really apply to small clubs says.....
"Again, if a club is based in a major city, owns it’s stadium or has a large fan base then prices can increase significantly. That being said, most League 1 teams can be acquired for £20m or less and League 2 teams can be taken over for £10m or less."

Knowing how Beano like our club has been run in the past few years, I wouldn't be surprised if Rupp's probably Googled it, read this and taken it as gospel. Like they used to use the Transfermarkt site as actual truth on player valuations.

 

To be honest I'd rather rupp sold to an owner or group of footballing people who had a clear vision to take the club forward and the money to back it up.

But if he wants to stay, he needs to continue to spend and appoint a CEO who can take us forward. Rhodes is ok in situations where we need to become stable, but he won't progress us.

I think Rupp wants to sell but he'll only get low offers whilst we remain in league 2, so I think he'll want promotion more than anybody.

I reckon something is brewing again. Whether you like the Mail or not, a national newspaper wouldnt fill space on their sporting pages with an old story about a 4th tier football club, like this

What money has he put in ?

 

If that's the rumoured consortium - do they have enough money to invest and push us on? Is fine having the money to buy the club but like Lawn said the money needed to invest in players and move the club is out of reach of investors like him.

 

Think there was a few involved in it, no idea what sort of money they would have between them mind you. We would need some decent investment if we do want to get out of the bottom two divisions though.

 

I’d be neutral to a talk over atm, I’d be desperate if Rahic was still here but thankfully he binned him off.

That said if there was a party with genuine ambition and actually had the potential to move us forward then of course it’ll be fantastic.

However earlier on this thread posters say there is always people willing to buy a club, however a lot turn out to be vultures.

All that said I think it’s just paper talk but we’ll see.
