Parky only kept us in the league by the skin of his teeth and he dit it over the whole time he was here. Had T&S lost matches in between wins till the end of the season it would have been counted as success.
Parky came good and with the right support so can they unfortunately I don’t think they will be given a chance and once again we will be on the managerial merry go round

Bolton's run has been absolutely phenomenal. They were on their arses like us, and we matched them for a while with form before we fell away. Fair play to them.

I agree, finishing 15th in League 2 is very disappointing in the grans scheme of things. By "fickle" I mean fans licking Trueman's and Sellars boots a few weeks ago, and now they want them out of the door.

 

A nice constructive reply, unlike some (the usual suspect), and I thank you for that.

It was always going to be a risk giving the job to two unproven managers, but given the run of form we were on, it was difficult for Sparks to NOT give them the job, Hurst would have been a much better long term bet IMHO, but imagine if he gave it to Hurst after T&S's brilliant run of results, everyone would have gone mad.

However I am of the camp that if you give managers an 18 months contract and have a long term vision, then you see it through. Sparks clearly has a plan for this club, and in my view another sacking in the infancy of his CEO role very much goes against what he is trying to achieve. As such I think he will stick with them and let them and Lee Turnbull build the squad. Next season is the time to judge for me.

 

But they didn’t and that’s the point. One point and one goal in seven games.
They have to go. Stop settling for mediocrity.

 

Yes but you can not discount the championship form in between. They .have done it before they can do it again. And of course we have seen the fruits of continually changing managers. But as I say you will have your way. Let’s see what good it does us

 

Don't fathom this. We got our best results during the height of the pandemic and dropped off once the vaccine rates started bringing infection rates down. Surely that means the pandemic had a positive effect on our squad ?

My feelings were consistent - Sparks should have given T&S their deal - until the end of the season.

They were pretty obviously going to keep the team up, which was their remit, and giving them until the end of the season was the correct response - it took away the potential instability of them being on a game-by-game basis, it let the squad focus on the job at hand rather than worrying if someone else was going to take over, and it took the pressure OFF of T&S because nobody was worrying about the following season and whether they were the right appointments or not - which we all now are.

Sparks really messed this one up, I'm afraid, and has given the club, the coaches, the fans, and everybody involved at City a totally unnecessary headache.

Had we continued on our fantastic run of form, fine, give them a two year deal - but if they didn't, not a problem, they would remain as part of the fabric of the club BUT we would have the option of turning to a more experienced manager for the benefit of the club should we need to.

Now it's a horrible mess whereby T&S will either feel pressured into standing down unnecessarily, Sparks feels the pressure to consider sacking them (which is frigging ludicrous, there's no way they should leave the club), or we just stick with them knowing that we've just drawn 5 blanks in the last 7 games, which is never good enough for any team at any level.

I'm sorry, Sparks has got this one badly wrong.
