100% unprovoked. As Bigrod has mentioned, it was a dedicated family area we were in at the time, and never even a chant aimed at the Man Utd scum from our area. You had to be there to understand the disbelief we had as families with kids watching the cowardly scum attacking families. Hated Man Utd ever since

 

I travelled back to Manchester on the train after that game.

It was horrible. Some serious scumbags there that day. Agree completely with your sentiments.

Luckily, it was properly policed. Police on the train filming all the United fans. Police at every station stopping them from leaving the train.

That said, Liverpool fans in Barcelona were the worst I have ever seen. Ashamed to be English that day.

 

Were you wearing City colours on the train
If so, must have been intimidating for you. As you say there was a load of rough looking meatheads out that day.

Talking about Liverpool supporters. The most intimidating walk back to a car after a game I have ever had was after the 1980 cup tie at Anfield.

Agree 100% that night was shocking no help by the mounted police who were "on duty" that night, there were 8 of us one a 7 months pregnant women, they weren't Liverpool fans but Liverpool gangs of robbers, luckily we were escorted back down to our car by several genuine Liverpool fans.
Yet the second year in the Premiership me and our lad went into "The Arkle" near the ground and had a great couple of hour with the scouser's good football banter, what you have to remember was we stopped Liverpool qualifying for the European Cup by beating them at Valley Parade the last game the previous season, but worse was it allowed Leeds to qualify, which they took in good humor when they started getting too cocky, great day even though we lost to a cracking Heskey goal.

 

When we started walking in the opposite direction to City fans being escorted to coaches, toward our car, the police actually said couldn't guarantee our safety as there would be 'tooled' up gangs looking out for small pockets of City fans walking back to cars. No idea what the police expected us to do. Fortunately we got back to our car unscathed as we weren't wearing City colours, but you could see some very unsavoury characters hanging around trying to spot their prey!

 

Right people - big favour to ask. As some will probably know, I am hoping to be in Bradford in time for the game (land at Heathrow 6:30 am). BUT I need a ticket. No time to pick one up before game from office. Can't have one sent by mail. If anyone has a spare or is going to but a ticket tomorrow or Thursday, could you get me one too please?
