Although I live in Newcastle I work closer to Durham so know plenty of Makems. A far more down to earth bunch of supporters compared to the Toon. In many ways Makems are like City supporters, they have to put up with a “big” neighbour who suffer delusions of grandeur (us with L**ds, them with Newcastle - the local media / sky sports almost suck off L**ds / Newcastle whereas teams like us and Sunderland aren’t fashionable enough), they never seem too far away from the next crisis, they’ve had owners who have been out of their depth, and they know they’re shite but they’re loyal. A couple of lads who work for me who go everywhere are thoroughly enjoying this season as they’re seeing their team compete which I can relate to.

 

Even I got a mention on there. Think I’m gonna leave this forum to on where I’m more appreciated.

But seriously every time we’ve played Sunderland there fans seem a good bunch. Been to Stadium of light too and no issues. Jason Mcateer ran the show and we lost 3-0 I think.

Every time we seemed to play them we got stuffed apart from the odd game. The Cup recently been kind to us.

I remember Julio Arca being given the freedom of Bradford to come forward and score at VP once.

Good times.

Looking forward to this afternoon and it’s the first time I am for a long time. A proper club and a sell out away allocation

We've won 2 in 13 against The Mackem's but gleefully recall ( well, the grey matter has seen better days) the 1-0 win at VP in early 89 when Zico scored in front of the Kop (was it over the line? ..) and Eric Gates spent more time going down under nothing challenges than a hooker in a brothel before the infamous right foot drive that saw off Spurs at VP the following week.

Oh absolutely. I'd personally take a draw now but more importantly, I'd like to see the continued application and effort, the willingness to win the second ball that we've seen in the second half against Bristol and away at Wimbledon.

 

It will be fine as long as they don't knock @Bronco flask over his dripping sarnies If that happens all hell could break out .....

Completely agree. I’m growing tired of hearing, we put in a shift, and at least it was a good performance. Today is the first time i’ve felt confident of relegation. Result not Edin’s fault, but he put us where we are.

 

Edin has weakened every position from last year barring payne ?

 

Hard to tell from the kop, i thought he played well today. There were other instances where players had a free header or shot, usually at the back post. Happens every game. First i’ve seen of Sunderland and i thought they were strong physically but take out Catrermole and McGeady and they weren’t owt special. That away support though is different class. Best i’ve seen for years.
